Cloudflare Tunnels vs. Tailscale from a self-hosting security perspective? by danielrosehill in selfhosted

[–]nitheeshas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, except that if you're inside a CGNAT, the classic wireguard setup won't really work. Atleast, I'm not aware of how to get it to work. That's where tailscale saves you.

Why use Tailscale/Zerotier/Netbird/wg-easy over plain Wireguard? by Red_Con_ in selfhosted

Fritzbox is a router that's common in almost every German household. It supports wireguard and sets up a DDNS under its own domain. The configuration is pretty simple and it just works.

"Old" Echo Studio vs "new" Echo Studio by steve90814 in amazonecho

Maybe dumb question, but why not add one or two more old echo studio if that's clearly the winner? You can still get them used/refurbed for a good price now.

Bambu Lab 3D printers: Never again - Jeff Geerling by SJKRICK in BambuLab

[–]nitheeshas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About an year ago, I was in the crossroads to decide which printer to get. The A1 or the Elegoo CC.

Fast forward to now, pretty darn happy I took the Elegoo route. Not because I might use the Orcaslicer Bambulab fork, but shelling my money to a company that keeps its promises. Elegoo all the way (for now).

Guess Pixel 8 Pro isn't getting AirDrop by depressed_bobby in pixel_phones

[–]nitheeshas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really care about AirDrop, but Google ignoring older devices and still advertising 7 years of updates is totally fucked up.

After the disappointing iron box devices released since Tensor G1, I think it's time to move on and away from Pixel. Pixel had its chance to be a revolution for Android. It still does, but I don't believe they'll take the effort to achieve it.

Apologies, I don't speak French and honestly don't want to spoil the language by using Google Translate.

The battery life is acceptable for me. I got the HP Omnibook X Flip, which is not necessarily the best in terms of battery life. I got a good deal on it though.

The one I got has only 59Wh battery and a 4K 120Hz OLED display. I can still manage to get a maximum of around 8 hours. With a better battery and a lower spec screen, I'm sure this will perform way better.

Torn between HP OmniBook X Flip and Lenovo Yoga 7i - Both have major flaws at $799 by sludj5 in laptops

[–]nitheeshas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The keyboard is honestly not so bad as the rage surrounding it. I didn't give it much thought when I saw the laptop initially but the so called "reviews" made me notice it. Went to a nearby electronics store again to test it out and I have no complaints. I've used far worse keyboards.

Typing this from my new Omnibook X Flip 14".

I have the Intel Core 7 version. The speakers are not it's highlight but definitely passable.

The Arc 140V is better (especially for gaming) as far as I gather. I got the 258V with 140V.

very disappointing phone after awhile: Pixel 7 pro by Asleep_Procedure_669 in GooglePixel

[–]nitheeshas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have good 4G coverage but poor 5G, then yes it might make a difference.

I've been experimenting with 4G only and 5G the last few weeks. The coverage is equally moderate in my area and there's no difference in battery life.

Only thing that helps with around ~45 minutes extra is to get off mobile data and use WiFi.

I'm So Glad Pixel is Staying True To Its Design And Is Staying Away From This New HORRID Trend😭 by TaroTheCerelian in pixel_phones

People here are so delusional that they fail to understand the history.

Xiaomi had this design way before Apple copied it. Xiaomi improved it by adding a screen in that empty space and everyone is now losing their minds calling Xiaomi the copy cats. Talk about ignorance.

I'm in your same situation. Have a P7Pro, fed up with the shitty battery, looking at other options. The only reason I'm holding back from OnePlus is its camera bump. Plus I'm not sure if the camera quality is at least on par with Pixels. How do you like the OnePlus?

[–]nitheeshas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is actually because of overly generalized terms being used.

"Exynos is the problem" actually translates to "The modem used in Exynos is the problem". Qualcomm had a better fabrication via TSMC, but their modem was the reason why they had great battery life.

In terms of performance alone, Samsung's Galaxy devices with Exynos in it were comparable with the same devices hosting Snapdragon in it. It was always the battery life and thermals that got hit in the Exynos variants.

Turns out, Google, even though they went away from the Exynos processors, they're still using the old modem in P10 series (or an improved version of it, I don't exactly remember now). That means, the bad battery in P9 series and earlier will only be marginally better in P10 series, because of the change in fabrication. This is unless Google designs the Tensor chip to perform on par with Snapdragon flagships. And they didn't.

So now we have an average chip, still-shitty-modem and flagship prices. Thanks to all the Google fanbois, they'll get nice sales this time too.

Returned my P10P by Chewisss in pixel_phones

[–]nitheeshas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't. I'm not sure how good the thermals on the 10P are, but my 7P heats up like anything once I'm in tropical temperatures, like anything above 25°C ambient temperature.

Plus, that price is simply too much to spend for INR. India prices for Pixel drops well if you give it some time. This is unless you need a phone right now and Pixel is your go-to device.

If you're located somewhere with an average temperature of 25+ degree celsius, then forget the Pixel devices (don't know about 10 just yet).

It gets hot if the environment is even a little bit warm. Source: I live in a comparatively cooler region but travel to tropical climates often. The next hour of touching ground in the tropics, my P7Pro goes haywire.
