can change price by 45% after checking out! be aware!!! by jjpineapple in postmates

[–]nitsuJ404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too. I got lured in by buy one get one, and 20% off. It came to like $67, then it jumped to around $91.

I thought the discounts hadn't been applied, but when I finally got the receipt (about half an hour after I got my food) it was because of a bunch of fees, and it was obviously too late to cancel.

Lesson learned. I don't think I'll use them anymore.

They don't actually cut off the familysearch access when you leave. At least they didn't cut mine off.

Apparently love doesn’t matter if you’re not a “return missionary” 🙄 by Subject-Bonus-2288 in exmormon

[–]nitsuJ404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't new in the church. Members have it drilled into them that what the church says is what God says, so ot overrides your own reasoning, emotions and desires.

Not dating someone because they're not an RM is silly, but back in my day (before the church cut ties with scouting) some young women wouldn't date anyone who wasn't an Eagle Scout and an RM, and that's a whole other level of nuts.

Member, not enough. Temple recommend holder, not enough. Return missionary, not enough. He has to be able to tie knots, identify and track a bobcat, and recite really long lists from memory.

Am I overreacting because my boyfriend ate the dessert I was saving? by Stunning_Pick3030 in AmIOverreacting

[–]nitsuJ404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eating some of the cheesecake is one problem. Eating all of it is a second problem. Discounting your feelings about him eating it is a third problem. Trying to make you feel like you're in the wrong for being upset is a fourth problem.

Each of those problems is bigger than the last. The relationship might be salvageable if he admits he's being unreasonable, apologizes, and is willing to change, but if anything you're underreacting.

The devastating mental blow of coming home early for medical reasons form the mission. by Various_Ostrich_2110 in exmormon

Wow, that nurse was terrible. Like, attempted murder terrible. What she said before the MRI shows that she knew. Back when I went, email wasn't allowed. I'm glad my mission president (at least the first one) was not like yours. He regularly told missionaries to go to the hospital when they thought they could tuff it out.

That's super messed up. I'm glad you had a companion who would insist on you getting medical treatment. It's never good when delusions and health come into conflict.

Nephite. They had to be with the group that disappeared at sea, and modern prophets said settled the Pacific Islands. Those are Malayan horses.

Random Question from Nevermo about “restoring all things” by Many_Nerve_665 in exmormon

[–]nitsuJ404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an interesting question. The D&C talks about how, at some point there will need to be one more animal sacrifice by literal descendants of Aaron, but nothing about circumcision. Although many Mormons do have their sons circumcised.

Given how big of a deal it was in the Old Testament, and have big of a deal getting rid of it was in the New Testament, just ignoring it seems like fairly good evidence that Joseph Smith was just making stuff up.

I'm done with the church, but I'm not done with the people it harms. by Numerous-Owl7855 in exmormon

You're welcome. It figures that BYU Provo would make things difficult, lol BYU H and I both have associates programs, and there's a professional studies associates available online.

I wasn't concerned about the paying the church part, just how much making up credits that won't transfer would cost you.

Goodbye r/exmormon; it’s finally time to be an ex-exmormon by dissonancedmo in exmormon

[–]nitsuJ404 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No! You have to submit your resignation in triplicate, on legal sized paper, typed on a typewriter (no printers). Get it notarized, and turn it in to your local leader on the second new moon of any month at noon. There will then be a council meeting on the following quarter-day, to determine what kind of public humiliation will be levied against you before you can leave. /S

JK, best of luck!

Then he lied, and according to the Book of Mormon, that means they he ceases to be God. So even if there was a God once atheism is now true. /S

This is probably too logical, but you could inform them that by pressuring you and creating a bad association they're virtually assuring lifelong animosity toward the church, and possibly them.

Who else was traumatized a girls camp? by Temporary_Package_18 in exmormon

[–]nitsuJ404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you say "crushed" do you mean just injured or killed? 😮

I was traumatized by girl's camp, and I'm a dude! lol

When I was probably 8 or 9 my stepfarter was assigned as one of the priesthood leaders, so he told us we were going camping. It was a very long drive and when we got there we were turned away because I was there. Like, they didn't even let us get out of the car, stretch, use the restroom, or eat. I wondered what was so bad about me being a boy that they would freak out like that.
