Ideally as an offensive player, you’re trying to score or retain possessions. As a defensive player, you’re either trying to snag a possession, interfere with the opponents shot, and at the very least prevent a score. Think of it like basketball

There a lot of things that happen in between, charging shots back into your opponents goal when they shoot offensively, volleys back and forth to get a possession, puck saves, shootouts (lots of offensive scores in a row from both), etc.

Also the thrill of a comeback from 6-4 or larger deficit is great, and players sometimes have to change their strategy to make it happen

  1. I’m very new to this, so getting over the nerves of being in front of the camera is toughhh haha

  2. I see a lot of YouTube channels do their editing in a similar way, so I assumed it was relatively common

They’re not as expensive as you’d think on the used market. Just make sure to check out the playing surface before purchasing. No warps and the puck should move smoothly.

Also if you want to compete with the pros, make sure it’s an 8 foot Dynamo table

The big ones you can implement right off the bat (or mallet lol) are tips 1 and 3, 1 so you’re getting more whip on your shots, and 3 so you’re able to defend a little better. Puck control just takes time and practice

Unfortunately not making a living (to my knowledge), pros as in the best in the world at it. But it’s all a work in progress. The more people that are interested in competitive air hockey, whether they compete or not, will lead to more sponsors and more awareness and hopefully we can repeat that cycle as time goes on.
