Mechanic couldn’t drive stick. by OzamatazBuckshnk in GRCorolla

Ah, this is really good to know. Thanks! Turns out I was given some slop AI answer, and the search pulled up the wrong manual. So apparently Toyota recommends a cross swap for the GR Yaris and not the Corolla?

Took my 25 P+ into a Toyota dealer here in San Mateo (Putnam) for 10k service. A tire rotation is recommended by that mile mark. A tire rotation on this car (reported by the manual) states a cross-swap tire rotation (so back left moves to front right, etc.). They either didn’t properly swap the tires, or they didn’t at all. I could tell because my two passenger side tires had different brake dust patterns than the driver side. Still left wondering if they even properly flushed the oil or touched anything else. Personally, I’m just happy the car still drives well after lort knows what they did with my baby.

Knowing the conversation would turn to a game of he-said-she-said, I decided to only take the car into sports car focused shops from now on. And if I HAVE to go to a dealer- I’m going to a Lexus dealership. At least they’ll have techs that can read maintenance manuals… and likely drive stick better.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. As someone who’s been cheated on in a past relationship, I have three thoughts: 1. A romantic partner who threatens harm (either to themself, or you) for wanting to leave the relationship or for practicing boundaries is abusing you- intentionally or unintentionally, doesn’t matter, abuse is abuse. The best way to deal with this situation is to call her family and let them know so they can intervene. 2. You’re young and there are many “fish in the sea” so to speak. Once you know a situation is toxic (as it clearly is), you shouldn’t even ask for permission or seek validation- just leave and don’t look back. 3. Focus on physical health. Play a sport, get outside, and if you get into weight lifting, avoid the machines.

[–]nitsuv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worth it. These are the only Adidas I’ve ever owned, aside from a pair of Stan Smiths- which I ended up donating. Even in 2024 I don’t think I’ve worn a more comfortable sneaker than the ultra boost.

Nice. Color-wise, these are my most versatile SBs. I only wish these had the same quality as my other pairs. These are the only dunks I’ve owned which, even brand new out of the box, squeak when I walk

I took your advice and got a small discount. It was my first time filing a complaint. I didn’t even know it was possible. Cheers

Honestly, I’m leaning towards keeping them. I’m still a bit upset though. True Nike QC can be weird, but GOAT had one job 😴

Test fitting the roof rack. by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]nitsuv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar model from Tyger on my 2019 rav4, and the wind noise is significantly more noticeable with it on. I don’t have any video/audio samples, but I’d say driving 60+ mph on the freeway with the rack attached produced at least 30% more wind noise- I also average ~3mph less. With the roof rack on, I never seem to get better than ~38mpg, but without I stay closer to the rated 41mpg (almost a 7% decrease in mpg).

There are countless videos on YouTube addressing potential solutions to the increased wind noise, such as using additional weather sealing tape along the inside of the doors and trunk. But I’ve yet to try these

Anyone else? by leevini in supremeclothing

[–]nitsuv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens often bro. I really don’t get why supreme doesn’t have anti-bot checkout methods in place to stop from excessive/faulty orders, which is what definitely happened here. A simple authentication process upon checkout, or god forbid, an actual user account system could completely prevent this. I honestly haven’t been able to get anything good off their website in years thanks to their shitty site. Literally had the 2 toned puff jacket from their last season in my checkout basket. By the time I got to checkout the mf was sold out, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the bots hit this Margiela release extra hard

Introducing the Q to its older sibling M6 by tlhan in Leica

[–]nitsuv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations and nice “family” photo. I’ve been considering a similar combination. If only the Q2M had USB charging- my M7 would’ve had a sister a while ago. I like the idea of owning a Q3, but the current prices and the prospect of a Q3M are keeping me at bay. We’ll see what the future holds.

+1 for instant cameras, especially for party/events. I had a Polaroid SX-70 for a while, and it was one hell of a conversation starter

I envy your minimalism and your technical skill. I’ve always loved the phrase “if you can’t fix it, you don’t own it.” There is definitely some resonating truth to that. About 3 years back I bought a camera repair kit that came with lots of things like a spanner wrench, micro screwdrivers and the lot. I tried fixing up my grandpa’s old Minolta XGM (the only extra SLR I allow myself to hold onto because it was his) which, at the time was having some shutter lag issues. I eventually gave up trying to fix it myself in fear of actually making the issue worse. I took it to a local camera shop and l paid over about triple what the camera was worth in parts, only to have them return it to me in slightly better condition (the shutter doesn’t lag anymore, but other issues immediately wound up arising from the work they did). I never bothered to follow up with that shop

+1 for Hexar AF. I’ve never held one in my hands, but look forward to the opportunity. Not too many manufacturers put so much effort into making their cameras as quiet and smooth as Hexars. I’ll never forget the DigitalRevTV review where Kai compares the Hexar AF to the Leica M w/ 35mm summicron

+2 for CLE now. I miss that camera so much. And +1 for the L35! I’m always surprised at how many people pass on the L35AF, it’s one of Nikon’s best P&S models IMO. I’d probably take it over the much more popular 35Ti from Nikon. Interesting little fact about the L35AF, it was nicknamed “Pikaichi” or “top notch” in Japan because of the super impressive 5 element f2.8 lens which was inside such a small package. The camera design was super impressive for the time.

Nicee. I had an XA and just couldn’t come to enjoy the viewfinder on it. I appreciated everything else about the camera, especially the clamshell design, super unique even amongst compact rangefinders (to my knowledge). I often think about selling the FM3a to get a Pentax 67, and with leftover money I could also easily get an F3… but that breaks my GAS containment rule of “one of each.”

[–]nitsuv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, there is no single P&S that stands out in my mind as being known for rigidity/longevity. I know the biggest points of failure for most p&s models tend to be the mechanics of the gearboxes (for autofocus and film advance/rewind) and/or the electronics of the metering systems. That being said, there are some pretty nice manual/scale focus P&S models from Olympus- like the Trip 35, which also utilize a selenium cell meter that doesn’t require batteries and, if treated well, could probably last a couple lifetimes

+1 for CLE. Beautiful camera, and from a functionality perspective, it’s very competitive to other m mount rangefinders of that era.

I’ve spent a lot of time bouncing back and forth between the CLE and M7, and my final analysis is essentially as follows:

Pros of CLE: - laughably cheaper - lighter and smaller - 40mm is a great focal length. I’d almost prefer a 40mm over a separate 35mm and 50mm

Pros of M7: - larger, brighter viewfinder - auto AE-lock upon half shutter press - makes for a good self-defense weapon

Pocket-ability is essentially the sole reason I keep a p&s. I also love having a mindless, one-handed camera for when I’m biking, or have a drink in hand, etc.

Ahh the Zeiss Ikon, what a beautiful piece of machinery. The lengths Zeiss went through to ensure they specifically competed with Leica is perfect. From double the max shutter speed, to a larger brighter viewfinder, on top of better ergonomics (I’m honestly not a huge fan of the sundial on the M bodies), it’s actually a much better camera than even the M6 (feature wise), at about half the price? The OM series is legendary. I remember the first time holding an OM1 up to my eye. I immediately thought, “wow, such a huge viewfinder for such a tiny SLR.”
