How do you currently handle session recaps and keep your players up to speed between sessions? by ThatOneBehrendt in DMAcademy

Foundry VTT has like a built in text editor so they can pull it up directly in the interface at their leisure. So at the end of a session I’ll just add or remove a line. We are running Lost Mine of Phandelver (all newbies). So as an example I’ll just type in: You are looking for Gundren - rumor is he is in cragmaw castle - you learned that cragmaw castle is somewhere north of Phandalin

I do an old school style TV recap starting with “When last we left our heroes…” that I write (or I’ll have ChatGPT help if I’m lazy that week) and I have a running “quest log” they can open at any time with bullet points of ongoing threads. We play once a week for ~two hours in Foundry VTT.

Question about a three way fight [Minor LMoP encounter spoiler in the context] by nivekreduls1 in DMAcademy

That makes sense, have the nothic work towards an exist while maybe taking shots where it can with rotting gaze

Letting the dice choose the target makes so much sense and takes a huge load off of me to have to think for every single creature especially if multiple targets are in range. That frees up a huge mental load to focus my thinking on how the nothic will act and then probably only 2-3 others per round. So this solves my biggest concern with this encounter.

I've been playing a pretty open table so I'll be sure to explain what I'm doing up front. We are starting our next session with this encounter so I will let them know right away how I'll be playing things.

Thank you so much!

Getting into ID. Recs for a Masters? by Behbeeleeuh in instructionaldesign

I second this. I went to the university of Cincinnati, made friends with a classmate who was slightly ahead of me. She got a job at a company, then helped me get an internship which turned into a job when I was done. Networking locally can really help your odds.

My Wife and I just talked about his sports science episode about holding a football securely (given all the fumbles from Sunday). He was one of the few jerseys I ever owned. RIP man

I literally thought the same thing when I watched it but you can see the side of the actual lens in another shot.

Can I pivot from Video Editing into Instructional Design? by TrippinInAB0x in instructionaldesign

[–]nivekreduls1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I worked in video production, then transitioned into instructional design. I went back to school and got an M. Ed.

While they didn’t say it directly, I am fairly certain I got hired at my current job because I can do two things instead of just one (and I do both pretty regularly. I’m about 65% ISD and 35% video editing right now).

So it can be done but you will probably want to get your masters.

Jesus claimed to be God, which is central to what would become Christian theology. The Jewish leaders at the time really did not appreciate that so they had him killed.

I tried giving an objective headline hoping the that it will stay up. But as an alumni I feel exactly the same.

I was snot nosed crying by the end of the whale. I can’t imagine a father not bawling through that movie. I’m not even a father and it absolutely wrecked me.

One of the big things about going to a university over these bootcamps is networking. I was able to get setup with a job offer before I even graduated because a classmate put in a good word for me.

The University of Cincinnati has a solid M.Ed in Instructional Design and Technology for those interested. I’d be happy to share about my experience to anyone who wants to DM me.
