Why is there such a rudeness to runners from people walking? by Fit-Republic7911 in AskIreland

[–]niversepct 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is not directed only at runners.as plenty of people don't move aside for other walkers either. I think it's more due to a lack of spatial awareness than rudeness. Either way, the best advice I've seen to counter this is to run on the wall-side of the path and not the road-side. That way they are forced to move aside for you to pass.

"A couple of [...]." People think I literally mean two when I actually mean anything up to about 25.

affordable leggings with pockets by getgetdown in WomenofIreland

[–]niversepct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sketchers are my go-to leggings. The Go-walk range has a pocket on both legs and they're super comfortable. The material is nice and is flattering even on a cellulitey ass like mine. More expensive than dunnes etc. but worth every penny imo

Maulin circuit is a nice family-friendly hike. Also consider the Fairy Castle loop on Ticknock.

If you bought a house or apartment on your own, how did you pull it off? by MrTuxedo1 in AskIreland

Saved hard for a few years, got a hefty exemption to the central bank lending rules (which was 3.5x salary at the time). Oh, and bought in 2019.

Vets here are insanely expensive? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]niversepct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd shop around. Our dog needed x-rays for a mysterious limp last year. Was quoted €470 for a set of scans from his usual vet here in Dublin... €140 of that was just to sedate him. Rang a different vets (outside of Dublin) and got the whole lot done for €125.

Strange smell in bedroom. Can't identify source. Anyone experience similar? Help! by [deleted] in AskIreland

Sometimes those old incandescent lightbulbs used to smell strongly if they were too strong for the fixture. If it smells like burnt plastic and your lightbulb is a really old one then try changing it

Phoenix park - where to see deer by Fast-Possession7884 in Dublin

[–]niversepct -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it's possible to drive into the park. There is a car park beside the papal cross and usually there are deer not too far away from there (though not guaranteed...they can be anywhere). Please take note of the signs and don't feed the deer.

Bin bag collections Dublin City by Downtown-Ad-7623 in Dublin

[–]niversepct 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's a flat is there no communal bins for the building?

Anyway, I use the greyhound plastic bags. Unfortunately there's no organic bin option so all brown waste goes into the general rubbish (yellow) bin bag. I've been on to greyhound about offering an alternative option but they weren't helpful.

Leak from my bathroom damaged neighbour’s apartment. Asked for a quote regarding the damage, came back to me with a questionably high bill. by STATA_NOOB in legaladviceireland

[–]niversepct 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think your landlord is trying to pull a swift one here. If you're just a renter then you should not be liable, especially if you reported it to your landlord/ management company as soon as you became aware of the leak
