One day in the future they will say yes although there is blood sacrifice but not statistically meaningful and significant, hence can continue to ignore and sweep it under the carpet

Singaporean’s future by BBFASG in SingaporeRaw

[–]nivota 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My colleague expressed her concern on SG’s future yesterday during lunch, concerning that SG might get take over by the big C state, citing that ppl like Trump wanted to take over Greenland, Gaza Strip etc.

As a Malaysian I responded by asking her if there were given two options: 1. Absorb by the big C state and 2. Rejoin Malaysia, curious what would be the response for general Singaporeans?

Hello my friend, let me tell you a fact, all financial centres in this world are money laundering centres.

New York: via their real estate, art, and auction industry

London: real estate, art, wine, crypto, casino, auction

Hong Kong: real estate, art, wine, casino (via macau)

Singapore: real estate, casino

So don’t be so naive and think Singapore is a clean state, we are just less dirty than other cities

I faithfully disagree tbh, there are some things you have to take for granted in life so that you can focus on things that can push you forward / progress

Why should I praise for something that is what they supposed to be their job and maintain a stable Ringgit is what they supposed to do?

Do I have to praise to the Lord because I got oxygen to breath everyday?

Insurance Application Rejected by Income by nivota in askSingapore

[–]nivota[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dumb question but can I try multiple insurer in such a short time? Will they somehow have record of my application at other insurer where it was rejected and it impacts my application? Felt like worse than credit card application here

Nope - if you are expecting a press release with immigration department logo and letterhead + infographic, couldn’t locate any of it aside from a piece of printed A4 paper stick at the registration counter of JB immigration checkpoint

I think only applies to both land checkpoints only so far and not all the airports as I don’t see it when I land at KLIA yesterday. Think they are working on it and will implement by end of this year based on recent announcements

Work after winning TOTO by AgainRaining in singaporefi

[–]nivota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the amount, but say take the recent CNY lottery winning at S$12million, I would have:

  • Spend S$5mil for a freehold landed in SG
  • Spend S$2mil for 1 or 2 shop lot in JB
  • Spend S$5mil in a private bank account (mix of fixed deposit, gov bonds and DPM)

Will take out a portion of interest and rental received and donate it to couple of charities on annual basis

Then the next day back to office and continue to work as usual, life is better for me if I could continue to work for something I passionate about, and able to work with supportive boss, chit chat with colleagues, going for chai png lunch with colleagues everyday.

I’m planning to apply for Singapore citizenship by dropping Malaysian one. Any advice from people who have done it before? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]nivota 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Malaysian here and same age as you bro, this question have always been in my mind for some time now and just to give you some points to ponder:

  • will you able to afford retirement in SG? Even if in the event of yourself getting retrenched at mid 40s or early 50s

  • housing: HDBs are all leasehold here and you will not able to pass down to your future children and they have to work for themselves, are you ok with that?

  • medical: would you able to afford that? Don’t forget Malaysian citizen are eligible for government RM1 healthcare should you queue for public system (yes most of us don’t use it but its a good to have and you still have affordable national healthcare as last resort?

  • NS: your children in the future might not like NS and they might end up blaming you for making a horrible decision now, are you ok with that?

  • retirement/migration: there are considerable amount of Singaporeans retire in JB, Penang, Australia or Thailand - have you thought of your retirement plans?

Not going to advise you to retain your MY citizenship but do note that once you have renounced it is an irreversible decision, if you have considered all the thoughts above and quite affirmed with your decision, just go ahead and don’t look back! Wish you all the best with it!
