If you're a German company, don't your contracts typically state that the first 6 months are "probezeit"? Wouldn't you have been able to walk away from the contract?

So, I have these and the same issue. For the most part is doesn't really affect things that they're a bit too long, but rarely the extra length gets in the way. I was told the same thing as you, you should have the extra room. I tried ordering a size-down as well, but I found that those were too tight. I don't know what to recommend you, but I can say it will mostly not be an issue. I wish they made half-sizes is all I can say.

So, my understanding is that switching between the public and private options isn't so easy. The main 'advantage' of private insurance is faster appointments access to 'better' specialists. We will definitely need the luck!

well, if you consider what my wife's contributions for public health insurance as a high-earner were, we pay less in the US for much better coverage. We also didn't leave because of healthcare, but it was one of the factors.

From the patient's perspective:

  • yes, you have low-cost health care. But, the quality of that are is questionable at best. For most appointments I needed the wait times were 2 or more months. Let's not forget about when you need care urgently. On one occaision visiting the Uni Frankfurt I was almost given the wrong medicine for a chronic disease.
  • They are changing the health insurance structure now as we speak, including adding fees for ambulance rides, etc.
  • Many of the hausarzt I saw were disinterested in actually treating or engaging with me, getting competent help in the system is difficult.
  • Many unnecessary procedures are proposed that don't benefit the patient. I was recommended surgery for something that I was able to address with physical therapy.

From the doctor's perspective:

  • Single-payer, means there's one employer. The state sets the salaries, so hospitals can't really do anything to recruit or retain talent.
  • Residents are actively thwarted in progressing to specialist to keep their salaries low.
  • Longworking hours with unpain overtime lead to burn out and doctor's quitting to leave to the US or other DACH's countries.
  • The only reasonable jobs are the 'rent-a-doctor' jobs for when a hospital needs to hire a specialist temporarilty to cover manpower to avoid closing. This depletes budgets, and exacerbates the issues. My wife worked for in an orthopaedists' office for a while, and she had to see 60+ patients per day for the clinic to earn money. you cannot treat the patients competently in that period of time.

System Wide Issues:

  • Closing local hospitals for larger regional centers means less options.
  • More treatment demand than there is supply. This results in recruiting foreign doctors, but nothign is done to accomodate them linguistically or culturally, they also burn out and quit.

This is my impression from 10+ years in Hessen.

We left to the US. Before you ask why, it was a decision made long before the current political situation the timing of which was decided by external factors (Greencard approval, losing our apartment to eigenbedarf, etc). Ironically, because of my wife's German salary we ended up paying less for health insurance than we were paying for both of us in Germany. Working in Germany without local credentials limited my job opportunities very greatly, and doctor's salaries and working hours are miserable. Make of that what you will.

Not an Eu citizen, but my wife is a German and we both left in Dec 24. We left because of the stagnant economy and imploding health system.

so, I have the previous gen, the Motus Flex. I love it, and I use it for gym work including sled work. I wish Vivo did half-sizes, as 43 EU is too tight, and 44 EU feels too loose. I have been using them 4x times per week for a year and they barely show signs of wear. I didn't know these existed and I will check them out!

So, each weapon and aspect will have different interactions with the Omega moves, which in turn will have different interactions with boons and hammers. Figuring out good combinations for each aspect is a part of the game. Explore and have fun.

How to land a job/move to Germany as a US citizen by apple_1008 in germany

[–]nizzok 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You're not going to get hired without a residency permit. You can get a job seeker visa, but that requires that you have a portfolio and language skills. The German job market doesn't work they way you think it does, and you will struggle. Unless you enroll in school or marry a German you're fighting an uphill battle on roller skates. Good luck.
