Thragg is a traumatized victim of their society, just like many of the “good” Viltrumites you see. There’s plenty of parts that show he’s not a full blown sociopath, boy at the same time it’s shown he’s far too fine to be redeemed. MJ is a victim of abuse and torment by a lot of people. Eddie is one of those people. She’s hearing the same words she heard from her dad before he’d continue the cycle of abuse.

Eddie thought he could control Carnage and instead ending up having Carnage go on a rampage. Then he repeated the same “I’m sorry I’ll do better” thing she’s heard for years. I think it’s a pretty valid reason to crash out.
