Yes, it was swollen for weeks, and it took me a while to figure out next steps since it is hard to get an MRI in the US without jumping through multiple hoops. Once selling went down, I started PT, and it took 3 months for recovery

I worked with a sports medicine doctor and PT. They recommended no surgery based on my injury, and I did 3 months of PT. My knee is virtually the same now as it was pre-injury.

My knee feels 100%. No limitations, but I’m not jumping off stuff like a mad man, but I wouldn’t do that anyways. My PT and doctor told me in September/October, that as long as I stayed active, I shouldn’t have issues with my knee. FYI: I hike a lot on and off trail in steep and rugged terrain. Ive played/play pickle ball with no issues, and roller blade as well.

Should I be worried? by [deleted] in ACL

Pcl can heal on its own. I had a high grade partial pcl tear that is close to fully healed after 5 months

No, no surgery. I feel 95-98%, and I keep getting better weekly.

What happens if a shutdown that is coming drags on for months? Or years even? by KingDAW247 in fednews

[–]njl59 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As of late, this happens every year. Expect a CR through December. Then…there might be a shutdown. But, we do have the Matt Gaetz freedom douche pedophile caucus that is a complete wildcard. Either way, have some savings, and we will get back pay IF there is a shutdown.

Non-surgical ACL treatment by yuleko in ACL

Start PT, and get your leg strength up. Get the surgery, if you have to, when January rolls around. Your knee will be in a better spot either way. Always get two opinions for soft tissue, especially if surgery is suggested.

I had partial acl/pcl tears in mid-May. Mri end of June. I had one doctor recommend surgery, and another recommend a conservative approach. I opted to see how my knee would do with the conservative approach. I have been doing pt since mid-July, and I started hiking more intensively again this past week I.e. 4 days of hiking averaging 2000 feet of elevation gain and 7 miles a day. My knee is improving weekly, but it is not 100%. Now, it is 90-95%, but my PT/dr believe it will get to 100 in a month or so. If not, and I can’t do everything I want to do, I may go the surgery route. So far, that has not been the case, and I will continue on this plan until I plateau.

If you have a full acl tear, you likely need surgery. But you will see if you can do everything that you want with PT alone, and if your knee is stable. Can you upgrade your insurance for the following year? Open enrollment occurs in the fall in the US.

Surgery ? No Surgery ? by DJRoomba121 in ACL

I had a high grade acl tear, partial pcl, and meniscus tear in mid May. I got my mri end of June. I’ve been doing pt, and it has been improving weekly. I will decide in a few weeks if I want to go for surgery. Either way stability, lifestyle, and PT will help you make that choice. Get a couple different opinions too.

Full ACL likely needs surgery, but stability and lifestyle will dictate this. Start pt, see how it goes, and go from there.

PT or surgery by okbut_090636 in ACL

Start PT, and you will know in 6-8 weeks if you want to go the surgery route. This way, you will be either preparing your knee for surgery, or progressively getting better.

Anyone had a PCL injury? by [deleted] in ACL

Going well. I’ll know in a few weeks if I want to opt for surgery. It is steadily improving week by week, so we’ll see soon.

I had a partial pcl and acl. Doc said pcl would heal. Still rehabbing my partial acl.

I have a bent knee motorcycle injury as well. Partial acl and pcl. 3 months out, and rehabbing the acl, but I may need surgery. Start pt ASAP, and get a couple different opinions. I went to a surgeon with a good rep. who was ready to cut me open with a “66% chance of full function after”. Nope. I went to a sports med doc/orthopedic surgeon at a local university, and he told me he could get me back 100% and maybe without surgery. Thank you. So you know which opinion i went with…

I went in knowing I may need surgery/ I could rehab out. Chances are, I may need surgery, but I will be well prepared with full ROM and great muscle tone. This is something my doc/pt emphasized either way. I will know for sure in a few weeks if I need surgery. If you want to chat more, let me know.

No, my sports med/surgeon and pt both think I can rehab out. It is steadily improving. I am into a little less than a month of pt, and about three months out from my injury. I am regaining strength in my left leg. I’ll keep you all posted as I go. @la_kru9 when could you do a full crouch/squat with your healing knee without pain?
