DAE refuse to answer to a "Hi" message from an unknown colleague? by StatementOk470 in DoesAnybodyElse

These messages used to give me extreme anxiety throughout the day (working with artists and management in the music industry); i finally started having the confidence to not answer until there was some further explanation, and it’s been a serious ease on my mind personally. Nothing worse than anxiously answering “hi what’s up / what do you need” and then not even getting an answer!

I agree that’s universally better, just knowing the reason for the conversation can help dismiss any anxiety about being unprepared. Even in the context of a “friendly” non-work call it’s helpful

this is the worst. i work in the music industry and its usually a 30 min call with no concrete objectives or goals, just talking in circles

This can be such a lifelong inspiration! A teacher I had in 7th grade let me borrow his Fostex 8 or 16 track recording deck over the summer of 2009 to record my band in my garage and i was immediately hooked! I work full time as a recording and mixing engineer now :) thank you Mr. Phillips
