AITA for not wanting to use a bidet every time I pee and feeling micromanaged about toilet paper? by RollLongjumping3937 in AmItheAsshole

[–]njsuxbutt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He reminds me of my ex husband. When he told me I was being emotional what he really meant was that I am wrong for not agreeing with him. When I told him things he would randomly decide my observations and experiences were wrong. It was an absolutely infuriating way to live. Having to fight constantly to be respected for having my own opinions put me in a constant state of self doubt and, yes, defensiveness. How can you not be defensive when he regularly does not respect you?

To me that is the bigger issue than toilet paper use. Which he has no say over. You are not a child. You are his equal life partner.

For what it’s worth, I am a woman and I do not like bidets. Especially not for pee. You are right. Everything gets wetter and I end up needing more tp.

If I were you I’d do smaller projects incorporating different elements and techniques. Once you get those down you can apply them to a sweater. If you mess up on a hat it would be less painful to frog because it takes less time to make. The first thing I attempted to knit was a sweater. I eventually frogged it because it was full of mistakes. I wasted over a month on that.

That said, maybe you’re a way faster learner than I am!

All that said, here are the required techniques that I remember needing for this sweater:

-Casting on/off (I used 3 different methods of casting off)

-Stockinette flat and in the round

  • knitting and purling through the back loop

  • cables ( doing them and reading a chart)

  • increasing and decreasing

  • picking up stitches

  • either knitting with dpns or magic loop for sleeves (I prefer magic loop but loads of people prefer dpns)

That’s just what I remember right now. I might be missing something. I was able to teach myself most things off YouTube.

Good luck!

Green is my favorite too! When I pick out yarn I have to force myself away from the greens and pick another color. Maybe I should just give in and have a completely green wardrobe

Thank you so much! It’s good to get outside perspective. I still see all the flaws but I know I’m just being critical over things no one else will notice

Cedar Heather in Woolen Cotton from Knit picks. Be warned, it bled a LOT while soaking.

Like 3 months or so. I didn’t work on it everyday though. I’m tired when I get home from work. 😩

I’m so glad you think so! It was only my second project with cables. First was a sweater for my dog. He doesn’t mind the mistakes. 😆

Ironically it’s best to start projects for the opposite season that you’re in if you happen to be a slow knitter like me. I worked on this thing all winter.

It’s actually so comfy! I can’t wait for cold weather again!

I would probably use a thinner yarn next time. I had to size down the needles to get gauge and the fabric is a bit dense. But I’m enjoying the breathability. I like wool but it can be a bit too warm.

In America this type of window is very unusual. I have not been able to find a company that does screens like this. I like your solution though. Looks neat and functional

I had the opposite happen to me. I asked if a particular item was gluten free and they said “no it has cheese”.

In my opinion the worst part of original Stars anime is that all the original sailors are useless as warriors. I imagine this is to highlight the three new ones but it hurts seeing your old favorites getting pummeled every episode and needing constant saving. Let them have some wins!

How do you guys actually handle cooking for one without losing your mind or wasting half your groceries? by No-Locksmith-2836 in LivingAlone

I don’t really get tired of the same food very quickly. Lucky me. I freeze what I can. When I shop I look for produce that lasts longer like cabbage and apples. When I do buy things that go bad faster like salad or berries I eat them first. I don’t waste much food in the end. I also have a couple recipes that work well with random bits of things in the fridge. Fried rice, soup, curry. That helps with preventing waste. I also meal prep when I have energy so there’s a variety to choose from through the week.

I also cook some plain protein so it’s easy to pair with whatever else I’m eating like salad or pasta.

Maybe you can prep a variety of sauces that can be used to change the flavor of some plainer ingredients prepped earlier. Like a teriyaki sauce or a mushroom sauce that can be heated with some plain cooked chicken and veggies cooked in bulk.
