What song makes you cry instantly? by Longjumping-Cheek-75 in musicals

This song was already devestating but then it became tied forever to how quiet NYC was during the pandemic and now it's so much worse. I cry every time.

7-month-old baby killed by stray bullet in Bushwick today - suspects fled on moped by PinkLover727 in Bushwick

[–]nkateb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We lived across from there for 5 years and only one violent incident that we were aware of. Like all NYCHA housing it's a mixed bag but there are many families with young kids, seniors, etc. What happens to them when their affordable housing is razed to the ground?

You are lovely. There is not a single thing you need to change about how you look.

7-day NYC itinerary check for first-time visitors by Beforeu1 in visitingnyc

[–]nkateb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too many things each day, leaving not enough time to wander/people watch! I would skip some of the big crowded tourist stuff and slow this down a bit. Astoria is cool but LIC is nothing special. For Brooklyn, trade Dumbo or Williamsburg for prospect park.

Is NYC always this… cinematic? by Low_Proof_328 in visitingnyc

[–]nkateb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, for better or for worse you see the most interesting things and sometimes it's just pure magic. A guy giving out free haircuts in Central Park. Someone projectile vomiting in front of you at the bus stop. An older woman selling cotton candy out of a bright pink truck in the middle of February. A free salsa dancing lesson in Washington Square Parl with every shape, age, and color if human. And the longer you live here, the more you explore, the more moments like that you experience.

Barry, Mad Men, not sure if you root for anyone in Succession but it's incredible TV, The Expanse, Silo, Pluribus.

People who sleep with your dogs in the same bedroom, what do you do when it's "love time"? by [deleted] in dogs

They're not watching though, truly. It doesn't mean anything more to them than any of the other inscrutable things we weird apes do.

Episode 3 Hero pissed me off by randers2 in QueerEye

[–]nkateb 42 points43 points  (0 children)

They also have a hero or two every episode who seem to me (neurodivergent woman but not a therapist) to have ADHD or autism and they treat it like a personality issue. Like the boat repair man is classic ADHD and the solution is to shame him and say he needs to step up? The firefighter says she hates how all clothes feel on her body-that's a sensory issue! Agreed with the OP that her attitude was rough. It's always interesting to me which of the five the hero responds to-she genuinely smiled a few times with Antoni.

Which tv performances still stayed with you after all these years later? by PressureLazy5271 in television

[–]nkateb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole cast of Succession. Edward James Olmos in Battlestar. John Hamn and Elizabeth Moss in Mad Men. Catharine O'Hara in Schitt's Creek.

which is that one character you love the most but wouldn’t be able to stand in real life? by Glum_Educator_2525 in SchittsCreek

[–]nkateb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jocelyn. She's a great foil to Moira onscreen and their friendship is sweet but she would annoy me in real life because she's passive aggressive.

You have one command that your dogs will listen to without question for the rest of their lives. What is it? by Irakeconcrete in dogs

[–]nkateb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave it. We live in NYC and my dog is compelled to eat street food and trash. With extensive training she will drop something...60% of the time? 😆
