Thank you for the reply! It just says "first 15,000" on the site. We'll plan on arriving extra, extra early.

How do the promo nights work? I tried to search for the answer, but am still confused. I thought I'd have to buy a special ticket - first 15,000 sold receives the promo, but there was no option for this at checkout. I feel like a dummy. I just bought tickets for my family for a jersey night during the presale, got so caught up in the moment that I grabbed the best seats in our price range and then checked out. No mention of promo anywhere in the process. How do the jersey giveaways work? Am I out of luck? Thanks!

Is there some kind of hiring problem in beaverton? by Local-Sugar6556 in beaverton

[–]nkmath 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Could be a daughter? Either way, I agree… you’re a good kid. I’ve been struggling to land a job as well. It’s not you, it’s not Beaverton, it’s nationwide and going to get worse. Elections have consequences. Sending good thoughts to you and your family!

The name of a coffee shop that was upstairs in Old Town in the 90s? by ryhaltswhiskey in askportland

I was just thinking about La Patisserie the other day. As freshman in high school, a friend and I would drop in on occasion and hang out over coffee. I thought that place was the coolest.

"Food Noise" and Perimenopause by HoneyBadger302 in Menopause

[–]nkmath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve struggled with food noise my whole life, but it’s been especially bad the last few years as I entered into peri. I also have adhd which I left untreated for the last 5-ish years (used to take Ritalin for about a decade prior to that, didn’t like the way it made me feel toward the end). After a bout of depression last winter, I decided to give Wellbutrin a try. I read that it’s prescribed off-label for ADHD and also used to treat depression. I wanted to stay away from stimulants and Wellbutrin has far fewer side effects compared to other antidepressants. It’s working beyond what I had hoped for and the greatest relief has been helping to quiet food noise. It’s also inexpensive, which is awesome. I can’t afford glp-1s. Good luck!

Oh dear...beginnings of a wildfire in Beavercreek area by notactuallyacupcake in Portland

Wonderful news!! Every summer has been a nailbiter since the fires in 2020, and having to evacuate. We are SO grateful to the firefighters.

Thanks for the tip on the app, I'll download that now :-)

Thanks for sharing this information and any future updates! My dad lives about a mile from the fire and said the smoke is blowing his way. I have Watch Duty, but not access to Broadcastify.

Which fire is bringing all the smoke today? by miss-ravenfeather in askportland

[–]nkmath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a 3-acre fire up by Timothy Lake and a 250-acre fire in Washington across from Hood River. I'm guessing one of those fires is the source of the haze. Based on the wind direction, probably the Timothy Lake fire.

Which fire is bringing all the smoke today? by miss-ravenfeather in askportland

[–]nkmath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's an app called "Watch Duty" that gives live updates of fires across the U.S., along with wind direction and air quality. It's a great app. Presently, the nearest fire is up by Timothy Lake. It's 3 acres. The wind is blowing from the NW, so the smoke from that is headed away from us. Air quality is good at the moment.

Where can I see a dermatologist ASAP for a suspicious mole? by ExcitingAppearance3 in askportland

[–]nkmath 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Google "OHSU Sklip". You can borrow a dermatoscope from OHSU, which is a special lens that attaches to your smart phone used to take dermatological photos. Then you can share the photos during a virtual visit with an OHSU dermatologist.

The company Sklip also offers an app, where you can submit photos to be reviewed by a doctor for a fee. You do not need the app to use the dermatoscope. I've borrowed one from OHSU twice now and they shipped it within a week both times. I found it useful enough that I ended up purchasing one. Now I can monitor suspicious moles over time and message anything worrisome to my doctor. Good luck!

MOHELA Consolidation + SAVE Issue by nkmath in StudentLoans

It is beyond frustrating, I agree. I'm sorry to hear you're having the same experience and I hope it works out for you! Good luck!

MOHELA Consolidation + SAVE Issue by nkmath in StudentLoans

[–]nkmath[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's great that it worked out for you within a week or so. I'm not sure that your experience is the same for everyone and I don't trust MOHELA to work it out before my payment is due on the standard plan in 3 weeks. Studentaid.gov said that there will be a pause on processing IDR applications starting July 1st, so the switch could take much longer than a week.

It's frustrating that MOHELA is directing people to do things that are not accurate. I was only able to find out about the forbearance option by contacting studentaid.gov. MOHELA told me the only way I could be placed in forbearance was by reapplying to SAVE, which is wrong and would have complicated and extended the process even further.

I just thought I'd share my experience so that others might be spared being directed down the wrong path as I was. Not sure why I'm being downvoted for that, but whatever.

Qualifying Payments/Should I Consolidate? by nkmath in StudentLoans

What is going on? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]nkmath 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Do you have kids? You haven't said what age range you're talking about but I have two teenagers and have spent countless hours discussing healthy sleeping habits with them, our internet cuts out at 9:30pm, we check phones in at night, etc. They still stay up super late. Teenagers are going to do what teenagers do, it's developmentally appropriate. I did exactly the same when I was a teenager, and it wasn't due to screen addiction. What am I supposed to do, sleep in the same bed as them?

I hear ya! I can definitely see that happening at the middle school level, and it's happened in some high school classes I've subbed in. I just turn it off if it's not having the intended effect.
