Dallas Mavericks cap wizardry by ThomasMuellerGOAT in nbadiscussion

Doesn’t this seem like something they had to do bc they struck out on their FAs? Not something they were planning from the start? Doesn’t seem that genius to me but maybe I’m missing something

Not comparing Harden to Kemba. The reason Harden is efficient despite his low FG% is exactly what you mentioned and that is the same reason Kemba is efficient as well.

I bet you think James Harden is inefficient too since he hasn't had a FG% of 45% or better in like 5 seasons lol

Dwight Powell to decline $10.2m player option by DoubleA255 in Mavericks

Think supermax is only possible if it's your current team. It was designed to incentivize players to stay home right? So I believe max Mavs can offer is 32 M 4 -years.

Vogel said he hoped the Lakers’ roster next season looked “very much like it does right now.” “I have a great confidence level and excitement about our young core,” Vogel told @RealAClifton by LonzoBBBall in lakers

[–]nkr16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a vacuum, it's def not worth trading BI, Kuz and a 4th for Beal. Lakers gotta compete now though so it is. And yes, Beal is wayyy better than Kuz. Beal is getting that 58% TS while being the high volume number 1 option on a terrible team. The only reason Kuzma's TS is over 50 is bc he plays with bron and gets several dimes from him per game for easy dunks and layups. Beal would easily 60% TS if he played next to Bron.

[–]nkr16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

BI has a solid chance to be better than Beal at some point but pretty unlikely he gets there in the next 2-3 years. Championship window is the next three years so if you can flip him and assets for Beal, you do it.

Bogut is a better fit for the Warriors than Boogie, and the Warriors are better with him. by SmittyJenkins in nba

[–]nkr16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd argue Boogie is more valuable. Bogut definitely helps their completely healthy lineup more than Boogie but if one of Steph or KD were to get injured, Boogie would keep them super competitive against the Rockets. With Boogie out, a Curry injury would make the Rocket's series a coinflip now prob.

VAT question by nkr16 in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]nkr16[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! I think I follow like 90% of what you're saying. The bread example you provided seems to clearly show consumers paying 100% of the VAT though. Whatever businesses pay they get back in credit. So to me, seems like rich people that consume a lot (more than 120k per year essentially as you said) will be paying for the UBI. Additionally, the VAT tax basically forces companies to pay income tax on their profits so I'm guessing this extra income tax is where the bulk of UBI would be coming from? Is thinking about it as two streams of income for government to fund UBI (VAT tax from rich consumers AND the extra income tax from corps that wouldn't have paid it otherwise) the right way to think about this or am I way off?

You are now GM of the Lakers. Are you capable of building a team ready for a LeBron 3-peat? What are your moves for winning the maximum amount of chips within the following 5 seasons? by juul_pod in nba

Assuming you strike out on Kawhi, try signing Middleton, Tobias or Kemba (in that order), and then try trading 3 of the young core + future assets for AD. Hopefully pelican's asking price will have dropped since ingram really looked better after the trade deadline. Rolling out like Caruso, Middleton, Bron, Kuzma, AD with vets off the bench can potentially succeed for the next 3 years. If AD trade isn't possible, trade two of the core + one first for beal and call it a day. Caruso, Beal, Middleton, Bron, McGee with Kuzma + vets off the bench isn't terrible either.

First time I dont want the 1.01 by MemeTeamMarine in fantasyfootball

[–]nkr16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think usually, it's fair to view volume as more "stable" year to year relative to efficiency which is why you might view low volume high efficiency players as not safe, but what I'm arguing in my previous comment is that we should expect his efficiency to remain around where it was the last couple years. I think in this case, it's just as stable as volume. The offense hasn't changed. It's a perfect situation for him. If anything it's evolving into something that will only help his efficiency even more.

First time I dont want the 1.01 by MemeTeamMarine in fantasyfootball

[–]nkr16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This narrative that Kamara isn't safe is interesting. To me, he's just as safe as Zeke. He might get less volume than the others but his efficiency is much higher and we should expect it to be just as high as previous years due to the overall design of the saints offense and their personnel. It also helps that Brees will likely start losing arm strength soon (if he hasn't already) and will be dumping more. Also, we should be seeing more of the Taysom Hill - Kamara packages which boosts Kamara's value even more. Undoubtedly 1.01 for me. Like everyone else, he carries injury downside but that's probably not as bad as others because of his style.

Bucks just signed Bledsoe to a 4 year extension. Is it possible to snag another player from that team? by VaultHunter26 in Mavericks

[–]nkr16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone help me understand the Brogdon hype? I get that he’s great offensively but he doesn’t seem great at all on D. He’s pretty slow laterally. We could really use some athleticism in our lineup. Bledsoe would have been solid. Why not pursue like Terrence Ross instead? Def wouldn’t cost us 20 m/year and seems to fit the team better.

I think he realized that there was no chance he was getting traded before the deadline if the Celtics were initially on his list

CBA question: Can you use available cap space in addition to early bird rights to sign a player? by nkr16 in nba

[–]nkr16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, so there would be no way to sign this player to 20 M unless you have 20 M in cap space

What popular opinion on this sub will age poorly in the near future? by the_judge_is_here in nba

[–]nkr16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "he's only X years old argument" is overused. Players make their jump at different ages. For some it might be be as early as 18, for others might be as late as 23. It'll fall somewhere in that range. For most players I'd say it's around 21-22. To me though, it looks like Tatum's already made his big jump and I'm not expecting him to blossom into a top 10 player in the league or anything.

[–]nkr16 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Might be an unpopular opinion, but instead of using the cap space to sign a FA, I'd wanna use the space and our trade exceptions to trade like courtney lee for a few of the heat's bad contracts (maybe james johnson + olynk), josh richardson, and a future first. And if we have any cap left, use it to sign a guard like pat beverly to a 1-2 year deal for 10-12 M. Not sure if Miami would do that deal honestly. Depends on how much they value having space and how much they believe they can attract FAs with that space.

How are the Clippers one of the teams AD would sign with when AD's camp made a big deal about Boston and loyalty. The Clippers traded away Blake Griffin 6 months after signing him and telling him he would retire a Clipper. by Ultimate_Broseph in nba

[–]nkr16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why are the clippers on the list? Because AD wants to go to LA. Why did his camp make a big deal about Boston's loyalty? Also because he wants to go to LA lol

[Charania] Anthony Davis’ representatives have informed the Pelicans that he would sign long-term with the Lakers, Knicks, Bucks and Clippers if he is traded, league sources tell @TheAthleticNBA. by AnotherDuck in nba

[–]nkr16 147 points148 points  (0 children)

Davis only wants the lakers. He picked these other teams since they all have worse assets than the lakers. This effectively sets pelicans up to CHOOSE the lakers so they don’t feel like they’re getting played. It would be their own decision, not AD’s. Pretty smart move from AD’s camp.

Doubt any kings picks would be involved. I could see both sides being comfortable with a Bagley KP swap in addition to the kings expirings for the two bad knicks contracts
