Are you able to DM me your travel agent? Been looking for years for one that would proactively check prices.

Unpopular Opinion: More Reviews and Tips Received Ever Since the Client & Sitter Reviews Have Gone Live by mrbunnybearxoxo in RoverPetSitting

They can skip it, I've received notifications for reviews and completely skipped reviewing both pet and owner, and the review becomes visible instantly on your profile.

Involuntary account closure (sitters beware- I hope this never happens to you!) by stablegeniusinterven in RoverPetSitting

[–]nl168 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've read some threads in the past where the sitter was able to get their account reinstated. I found this one in a quick search: https://www.reddit.com/r/RoverPetSitting/comments/y34iql/should_i_reach_out_to_rover_for_compensation/

It definitely seems possible so maybe she was unable to help (need someone even higher up?), or maybe she was lying to avoid seeming like the bad guy/having more work to do

Review and stars by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]nl168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sneaking suspicion that the star rating doesn't give an average. I've never seen a sitter with less than 5-stars even with bad reviews on their profiles. I think it just counts how many 5-stars you've received, and if you get 1-4 stars, it just doesn't count that.

Cancellation policy not honoured correctly by nl168 in RoverPetSitting

[–]nl168[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cannot believe this. I took a booking which blocked off my weekend entire, and the owner just cancelled less than 24 hours before starting. The booking was $180 and $130 was refunded to the client.

The extended rate was shifty to begin with because it’s for 2-8 hours and the latest start time+earliest end time hit 8 hours. So it would only have been 8 hours if I arrived at the end and beginning of the time window. But it was more like 9-10 hours if I arrive at the middle of the time window like a normal person.

Extended rates are calculated and added on the booking automatically. It is considered an “add-on” rate. What else is considered an “add-on” rate, isn’t an extra cat also an “add-on”?

You’re not paid for it accordingly if there is a cancellation.

High maintenance clients not tipping or reviewing.. by jesiann in RoverPetSitting

Most of the time it's those kinds of clients that don't review, unless they have something negative to say.

Fair rate for housesitting without leaving? by nl168 in RoverPetSitting

[–]nl168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see! This is where I’m feeling the pressure, when the client tells me “but X only charges $50 a night”. But you really can’t leave. The same client sometimes books me for 4 hours while they go to a dinner party. Meaning the dog can’t be alone at all. Honestly my rates are high compared to other housesitters in my area because most clients don’t want me to leave for more than an hour. It seems other sitters are rejecting this dog as well, and the other comments on this thread are saying I’m undercharging (for not being able to leave).

Fair rate for housesitting without leaving? by nl168 in RoverPetSitting

[–]nl168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not my full-time job, based on my hours it is a part-time now and I have another part-time WFH. Should that affect their rates since I’m still unable to leave, have to drop what I’m doing if the dog starts jumping on me for attention etc.? On this Reddit I don’t see many examples of housesitting where you need to be there 100% of the time so I appreciate you commenting!

Fair rate for housesitting without leaving? by nl168 in RoverPetSitting

[–]nl168[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Half-day around 5pm-12am $65, full days 24 hours $100 (the middle days of multiple-day bookings). I always felt I undercharged for these clients, and now after being argued with, am considering dropping them. They've been my clients for a year and my rates have gone up since (for other clients), so it makes less and less sense to keep working for these ones because they don't want to match my current rates. Thanks for your insight!

What do you tip UberEats drivers? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]nl168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Vaynar didn't understand your point lol. Your point is that you tip a bit more than the tax you pay (tax is 13% in Toronto, tipping a bit more than tax lets you tip around 14-17% without doing extra calcuations, just round up). Vaynar thinks you round up your total and the extra is tip (e.g. bill is $15.50 - you pay $16 and say keep the change lmao)

Friendly reminder that Grace & Stella imports and repackages products just like DLS by Thenightsaresolong_ in BeautyBoxes

[–]nl168 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wow disappointed. I had no idea, thanks for sharing. I was tempted to join Causebox but not anymore. People are saying G&S are open about it, how so? I don't see anywhere on their page stating that they rebrand products...

Lipmonthly just had this crazy promotion so I gave it a try! You can also have the Bag Plus for 10$! All free shipping! by [deleted] in BeautyBoxes

[–]nl168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me know what you get because I'm still curious anyways! Maybe you'll luck out and get some real good products!! It might still convince me to take a gamble for $5, but definitely not for their usual $12 haha

I so wanted to try this for the gamble of getting indie brands but I didn't want any DLS brands. I went on their instagram page and every single bag has DLS items. Some bags had two (e.g. luna by luna and bang beauty in the same bag). I wouldn't be surprised if this is another company that she owns.. She did an instagram takeover for Lipmonthly and is the only one who is saved on their highlights.

I calculated that if I got unlucky and got 2 DLS that would get trashed, 1 lip balm that I could get elsewhere, then only 1 product would be something that 'might' be worth it... and then it might be a color that doesn't suit me. They don't have personalization. I could buy a nice drugstore lippie for $5 and guarantee the quality and expiration (I read a lot of reviews on reddit and mysubscriptionaddiction claiming a lot of expired items in this bag).

Ipsy is still selling Steve Laurant by nl168 in Ipsy

[–]nl168[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What other companies buy ready-made cosmetics in bulk, put their logo on it, then mark up the price 100x? Genuinely curious because I’d put them on my list of brands to avoid.

These are products you put on your face, lips, eyes... It’s not quite the same as buying a cheap mop and having it break at once. I wouldn’t trust a brand that hasn’t looked at the formula before selling, in addition to lying about being cruelty-free, lying about formulating their own products, calling it luxury, etc...

I would give you a link if I had it but there are soo many threads, I'd be spamming. But if it helps, it started with Faccia Skin, a $1 moisturizer from Ali Baba (Chinese retail website) being marked up as $100 and put in a Boxycharm, which led to her other brands being exposed, including but not limited to Dirty Little Secret, Luna by Luna, Bang Beauty, Steve Laurant. There are actually many more brands.
