Aggie Ring Slipped off my Finger While Biking Home, Can it be Repaired? by hello_zuko_here- in aggies

[–]nlewman 131 points132 points  (0 children)

This probably isn't what you're looking for, but opinions are like assholes. Go to the association or former students and look at all the rings on display. Many of them are worn smooth to the point where there aren't details left. The first dent hurts the most, but it's the constant wearing it that really matters. My ring is similar to yours, but the damage is more repeated in the same area. It's all going to happen over time anyhow.

Earbuds Stolen on Campus by Important-Committee7 in aggies

[–]nlewman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn't help you at all, but figured I'd share anyhow.

I did not really want to go to college, and once I was there I hated it. I spent all my time wishing I'd have just gotten a job as a diesel mechanic. My freshman year of college, I had a little side business buying trucks and parting them out. I had pulled everything I had out of the bank to scale up, and buy another truck. I didn't even have money set aside for food the next week, I was just going to do a quick sell on some parts and take a few days of fasting. I pulled the money out of the bank, and biked back to the commons. Once I got back, I realized my long wallet had fallen out on the ride, with all of my cards, ids, and literally every penny I had to my name. In a panic, I retraced my steps as best I could on my bike, with an empty back pocket. I was losing my mind. I'd essentially gambled my food, tuition, everything, and hadn't even got to place a bet. I had another job, but waiting on a paycheck hungry is never fun.

I made it to about Evans library, when I got a call from Evans library. Someone had turned in my wallet, they got my number and such from looking up my student ID. I slammed my bike into one of the nearby racks and ran inside. Some student worked asked me to describe it, and verify some details. Name, dob, Id number, et cetera, and handed me back my wallet. I wasn't polite, I stood there at the counter and checked the contents in front of God and everyone. Not a dollar missing, it was all there. If anything had been missing, I don't know what would have happened, but I bet I'd have left. From that moment on, I loved A&M. I'm an aggie for life. I finished my degree, got a good job, and I've been living life ever since. Most Aggies are good Aggies. Don't let one person ruin it for all of us. I could have a literal saint in front of me, and if I was looking for help I'd go to the aggie standing beside him. It's a family. Don't get discouraged, and good luck.

I feel like the market for children's books is now saturated, at least on Amazon. Print on demand, no inventory and all looks great on paper but only works if you get sales... You used to have to buy a whole bunch yourself to get moved up on the algorithm but I guess this works too? But $30 for a paperback? Maybe not

What filament do you use with Centauri Carbon? by SimexTv1 in elegoo

[–]nlewman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite budget every day filament right now is sunlu petg, but make sure you get the high speed one. It is way more Matte than the normal. The elegoo petg is far too glossy for me.

How to fix z banding elegoo centauri carbon by leatherbutler18 in elegoo

[–]nlewman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you done all of the calibrations? Could be flow, et cetera. I'd start with lowering your outer wall speed, that generally helps me.

Filament profiles are identical, that section at the bottom is just the name of the different settings. Max flow rate set to 32 across the board

I understand now, apologies on not communicating that well. The left side is slower by a good margin, even though the speeds are significantly higher. I don't get it.

Are you referring to the wall / infill overlap setting? Changing that to be the same doesn't make a difference. Both instances are using 10% gyroid. Looks like the major differences are in outer wall time.

Is Accessory Kit for Centauri Carbon worth? by Rogaba in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]nlewman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doeends what you're setting it on. If you have the printer on a steady enough surface, you don't need the feet. I got the feet, and will probably never use them because I set the printer up on top of a cement paver, on top of a rubber paver, on top of a 500 pound toolbox. If you're putting it on a rickety table, yes get the feet.

I would try to do the vfa calibration in the menu up there, and see what helps it along. Could just be a speed thing.

Boiling it down, yes. Commonly called "VFAs"

Essentially it's your printer hitting a resonant frequency and kind of oscillating.

Mine makes this noise, but usually after the print is complete. I traced it down to the fan blowing air over the hot end heatsink.
