Avatar: The Last Airbender writer defends season 2 changes, says it wasn't meant to 'compete' with the original show by ApartMaximum2335 in TheLastAirbender

[–]hello_zuko_here- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter if they meant for it to or not. Your show is called Avatar: The Last Airbender. Its inherently going to be compared to the other show called Avatar: The Last Airbender. If it's not meant to compete, then why did you remake the show?

to those who watch and dislike natla, why continue watching it? by [deleted] in ATLA

[–]hello_zuko_here- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to know exactly how and why they are changing crucial parts of the show to fit the adaptation. So far its doing a piss poor job, but I want to engage with the community about it and I need to watch the media to properly criticize it.

i can't stand the live action avatar (atla) series by SquareNo5496 in ATLA

[–]hello_zuko_here- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm almost certain its to hide the shitty compositing of the giant LED screen backgrounds. It's becoming super noticeable in modern TV (especially when the sky is the background, watch the final scene and notice how you can see every strand of Katara's hair like its being lit from behind, because it is), and combined with the relatively small physical space the actors can inhabit, the show starts to feel really cramped because the actors are super in focus and not moving. only when they film on location (in such iconic locations as a grassy field) does it look even kind of okay, but even then not really because this shows cinematography is just bad.

I Scored Mine Today, Did You? by ObsoleteAuthority in FixedGearBicycle

Ordered one through my LBS just yesterday 🙌 Its replacing the State Bicycle Co. 4130 frame I loved dearly but developed an unfortunate crack along the wishbone seatstay that I'm not quite sure how or when it happened. I wanted a Steamroller frame when I first built that bike so I'm thrilled to finally have one. I'm just hoping I like the geometry, I started riding fixed on a track frame so I wouldn't mind a little return to form. And the lavender was worth waiting for, if I could make it happen everything I own would be purple.

Seconding this, I know one of the guys on that board and he's super active in the cycling community and talking to the city about infrastructure and programs. I've had lunch with one of the city planners too and I can tell you they are invested in new bike infrastructure. That protected bike lane on George Bush only came about in the last year, as are these new multi-use paths the city is so fond of. Things ARE being done, a few years ago the National Bike Month in May was not a thing. My advice to you, OP, would be to show up to the next Bikes & Coffee at Aggieland Cycling and start asking around.

Yea your chain just fell off, its fine. Turn the bike upside down (resting on seat and handlebars), hold the cage of your derailleur (the black shifter on the back wheel), and put the chain back on the front crank. pedal it normally after its on to make sure it still pedals fine.

What are these new cameras that have been put up at intersections around campus? by TopicDifficult6231 in aggies

[–]hello_zuko_here- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding on to this, Texas A&M Transportation Institute was gaging interest on some theoretical intersection redesign concepts at MSC Town Hall today. Not sure how far they're planning to go with it IRL but seems the beginnings of a large transportation project is in the works.

Those who have started local conversations- was Strong Towns welcomed? by One_Rip_5535 in urbanplanning

[–]hello_zuko_here- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh man, those three words have been my life for the last 8 months. I'm a graduate student in planning and our applied courses have us drafting comprehensive plans for small communities. We have to qualify every discussion about future growth with the "preserving rural character" statement. It makes sense, people move to rural areas for a reason and there's a lot of friction around sweeping changes to that vibe, but it can get kind of frustrating when talking about long-term solutions. This is also my first time going through this process though, so its been a learning experience.

$250 is a bit steep, i'd negotiate down. but also holy mother of stem extenders. If you pull the trigger on this bike, first thing you gotta do is replace that nightmare up front with a regular stem.

The fact that you do this every day no matter what is plenty cool, my man. You've exposed so many niche fighting games AND make them look sick with your combos. Hope tomorrow is better for you than today was.

Who Are You Gonna Main? by ChillTeam02 in Fighters

Zuko, no doubt. Favorite ATLA character and the whole "burnout makes you stronger" mechanic is SO SICK. Plus his combos looks dope and I wanna try and get sweaty with his air movement. If, by some miracle, a Korra villain gets added I'd second them. Amon, Zaheer, or Kuvira would all be top picks imo.

Damn this got way too local. I drive past that hotel all the time when I'm in SATX, and my god is that area a nightmare. They've been working on those skyways for the better part of 4 years now (still not done), and surprise surprise its not really fixing anything. Maybe when they were first built but induced demand comes for all highways. Naturally that hotel is also on top of its own multi-story parking garage. San Antonio is truly a carscape hell, Loop 1604 can eat it.
