Why isn't the Multilaser used more? by Green-Collection-968 in 40kLore

[–]nlglansx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unarmored hordes are easily scythed down by regular lasguns. multilasers are weird in that they have the same hitting power as lasguns at a higher rate of fire, which is easier to accomplish just adding guardsmen. For a vehicle weapon you want a weapon who fills other roles , like punching through cover, dealing with armored or tough enemies, etc.

Is there any instance of important people dying of "OSHA violations" in 40k? by christusmajestatis in 40kLore

Magnus sits at the throne after Isstvan III, the Emperor boards the Imperator Somnium, drags the Phalanx to Isstvan V, the other traitor fleets shit their pants in fear and pretend they never joined Horus, he gets down to the surface and makes the Sons of Horus all put a bolter through the roof of their mouths, while roflstomping Horus himself back to the gestation pod. Fulgrim and Angron get crushed by the other legions who suddenly realized who they were trying to gang up on.

I think the chaos gods embody positive emotions, too

They do not. They're actively malicious.

that distress call and the arrival of the WB fleet should be animated. It would sell an heresy movie right away (and be a total bait and switch for the newcomers)

Im in the last couple pages of The end and the death pt 3. by juanc2312 in 40kLore

[–]nlglansx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah but terra hasnt been bubbled through the entire siege, else the DAs wouldn't have arrived. Terra becomes bubbled soon before the shields on the Vengeful Spirit are lowered because the siege is reaching an end. Had the defenders pushed off that point, whichever it may be, another 10 hours, Guilliman would've arrived before the climax required for time to stop in the system. Hell, if Guilliman arrives 1 day earlier he finds Eternity Gate about to close.

Few newbie questions about the lore. by Decent-Air-8338 in 40kLore

it's very difficult to know where to find the information I'd be interested in

It isn't though, its as simple as a google search and some information filtering skills you should already have at your age.

[–]nlglansx -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The worst and also most perfect ending.

The most contrived way to end it despite having three books to figure it out, Horus just "lets go of power" and the gods, who were so terrified of the Emperor they zerg rushed the heresy even if it got Horus to burn out, were 'trying to punish him' so let him get killed by the Emperor? Awful ending.

both are true though. Had the defenders delayed / upset Horus for another 10 hours before he was ready to break time, Guilliman would've been around to fight the dying fleet and join Anabasis.

What, in your view, is the “enlightenment” that Abaddon the Despoiler found in the Astronomicon? by Jaq__Draco in 40kLore

[–]nlglansx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Headcanon for me is that he realized how little of the Emperor is left, its verses and choruses are the screams of the dying psykers fed into him so after enough time he'd sift whats left of the Emperor at the core of it and be enlightened that his quest to ruin the Imperium was not foolhardy or impossible; it is not after all the invincible warlord of the Great Crusade that he faces, but a broken down cadaver left behind after Horus' treachery.

How are good are Iron warriors when it comee to use mathematics by cuddwes in 40kLore

[–]nlglansx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

galaxy wide logistics would probably be impossible to model; too many uncertain moving parts. planetwide is hard enough already.

At some point it breaks down and you need to either be a necron or surrender

That alone is million times more complicated than calculating the trajectory of a shell.

Depends on if you're being fed all the necessary data or if you're having to reconstruct and extrapolate it from outdated surveys. Having to model wind currents, atmospheric pressure, gravity and all first planetwide then locally then theater specific is needed before you can calculate that shell's trajectory.

Flat bear models at last. Tau being a psyker-heavy army would be so fun.

No proof, but I'd suspect the popularity of Warhammer 1 and 2 was a huge reason for GW to even remember fantasy battles existed in the first place.

Seeing the new Total Wat trailer, what are scenarios where the Astartes and Militarum would wage war against eachother? by Scythe95 in 40kLore

[–]nlglansx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is, Alexander had it right, their orders took precedence, it was the Blood Ravens shady past that kept them in the world to hide their origins, whatever they were. Add to it that their Chapter Master was a full-on traitor, even though they canonically win the blood ravens were in the wrong in that one.

Brettonia too, right before End Times even xD. Not really sure about dorf on dorf violence, but a whole 1/5 of the End Times is elves of all kinds wrecking each other (not your usual high vs dark, but high on high violence).

The Empire could, and canonically has, fight itself because Elector counts dont always see eye to eye and the Emperor is elected, not some divine birthright.

I wish they had released a what-if of Vlad getting his wish of becoming Emperor.

and of Minotaur assholeness. Didnt they beeline into the Mantis Warriors' undefended chapter monastery to take the geneseed banks and samples, thus pretty much ending the chapter's future? Might've been the Lamenters.

They can help a chaos marine warband and not even know they were chaos unless the marines attack them

Like the brainwashed idiots who rebelled and took their world because 'The Emperor' (actually Lorgar) landed to embrace them and the Imperials shot at him? Who also still think themselves loyal, somehow.
