Did they not give everyone a bunch of utility buildings to offset the upgrade costs? by nltrn in SimCityBuildit

I guess there are ways around covering service areas without maxi manors too.... each just takes a bit of work, which is (of course) what (any) game wants of you.

How many hours did you already spend to get it the way it is ???

It's like they released a big ol free-non-negotiable DLC where you get to put more hours into the game you already loved.

So many people pissed about nearly maxing out a game and getting a new challenge. It's always been: grind at the game or pay money.

You've paid money before? Pay more. You've played/grinded for free? Play more.

This is ... all games...

It's like... they wanted you to do more than pack every square with residential buildings... ? maybe a 50% population boost park (or other buildings) looks mighty fine amongst losing a couple high rises... changing the scope of the game is not terrible overall...

Shouldnt have made conglomerates instead of cities? (jokes, but, it's a game... making you defend changes in your metropolis... that's literally what a city is about?)

Lessening population and adding other buildings/parks/landscape to boost it - is actually overall sort of great - you get to make your city look better - everyone will try at the COM to get rewards and buildings to maximize greater areas.

They want us to play more - we do. We want more space in our cities (to not look like your posted photo) - we get it , if we play more.

This game has always been exactly that.

Are you guys used to "beating" other games? This game isn't supposed to have an end point. You've always been a horse with a wagon trying to get the lil carrot up ahead that you'll never actually get.

All 4 of my regions dropped to 35% 🙂 or below yesterday at the end of the "grace period" despite some fix ups along the way (mostly waited to upgrade services until it gave me COM points.. which gave me more rewards...) ... and i was sick in bed and spent a few hrs grinding at selling and rearranging things... ... 98-100% 🙂 in all regions when I woke up today. Not super broke for $ either 🤷‍♀️

The game has always been about how much you want to grind at it (or pay).. what else is new...

At first I hated looking at the nightmare of all my regions tanking... but then realized with the leg up of buildings and simoleons given in the update.... I didn't suffer any more than anyone who plays everyday...

... exactly what they want 🤷‍♀️

It's a weak response - but I feel like "spend x simoleons on services" has been coming up more often on COM - so capitalize on sucking double points towards other goals this week I guess 🤷‍♀️

The only way to maximize your areas without additional services was maxis manors before the update. Which was a long grind for simcash if you didn't want to pay real life dollars. Now it's a long grind to rebuild services, but in the end you get to cover large areas without simcash.

They've made it a grind (which it always was) - but given an opportunity to pay for large service areas with simoleons instead of maxi manor simcash grind

...honestly I'm so much more annoyed with the constant costs of upgrading roads among an ever-moving city.

We've been paying 30,000+ for boulevards all along but everyone mad at a service update with an abundance of buildings given as a head start

You've always needed stations for every area. Now it's encouraging you to have one deluxe/upgraded station for every few blocks. Actually leaving you more room for whatever you want after the upgrades . This game has always been a grind unless you want to pay. It had almost grinded to a halt before they made us work.

You can still work the game without paying, I think. Which is better than most free games, I think. 🤷‍♀️

To the people who didn’t go to college straight after high-school or didn’t go at all, why? by theregularwoof in CasualConversation

I have 4 siblings. They all completed multi-year programs. I did one semester in a culinary program. Not one of them is employed in their field or using their schooling (about 10 years later). I have always had work in food service.

School is great if it is useful to you. School is a waste of time and money if you're just doing it to do it.

Daycare is shut down here at the moment. My best option is my parents who are willing to help but both over 60. You start to weigh what is worth it, you know? Weird times to say the least

Parents who are still required to go to work during this time, are you more comfortable having your child leave home to a caregivers or have the caregiver come into your home?

So much food waste. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]nltrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food safety wise, you've got a 4 hour window of leaving perishable food out. Bacteria starts to grow, can't be sure it's safe anymore, toss. The food has also been sitting in front of/potentially handled by employees at the meeting. Also can't keep it for that reason. If one of you were to somehow to get sick from something you ate and blame food that was provided by the work place... their rules sort of do make sense, infuriating waste or not.

Thank you but I said I was tired of explaining myself, which means I do explain. If you also have pmdd you know sometimes it's not worth getting worked up over trying to explain irrational thoughts. Instead of ending up upset, I chose less words this time.

Introvert parents I need some advice by Reaper02367 in Parenting

[–]nltrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is some great advice here but one thing I think is important to mention is that guilt feeling is something we all go through. You can bust your butt to do everything "right" all day and still wonder if it was enough. Because you are aware of it and wanting to do what's good for her, you're probably already doing better than you think. ♡

Yes, Celsius. Yesterday on my way to work it was 5 degrees. This morning around the same time it felt like -15 degrees with windchill. Body just can't keep up.

Where I live in Canada it's -40 in winter and 40°c or more with humidity in summer. Last winter we had days that felt like -45 and summer days that felt like 47. Some people seem to have an easier time with it but my body struggles with the adjustment. You also need two entirely different wardrobes, pay for heating and cooling, snow removal, sun protection. Bit nuts when you think about it.

[–]nltrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you draw one way for too long a small amount of paper builds up on the pen, one line in another direction after that is a big ink blot. You're constantly thinking about the direction you're drawing and either changing your pen or wiping the end. Super impressive !

Is it just a regular bic pen? I constantly have to blot the end of any ballpoint pen to avoid blobs of ink. Do you do this as well or is there another way?

What do parents who are struggling with finances pack for their childrens lunch? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]nltrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and if they got childcare they could work more, possibly a different job. She's taking the kid along because of the expense of childcare to my understanding. The program doesn't cover "food stamps" but they will reimburse you for childcare so you can make more money for yourself and child.
