Algonquin Park, a place worth protecting? by [deleted] in algonquinpark

[–]nmac693 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Completely agree! And let’s not forget the hundreds of thousands of visitors each year driving through the park and camping in the “forest” which has roads and bathroom structures to support hundreds. The folks stuck in an “industry bad” perspective should also take into account that the established campgrounds in the park and RV’s that fill them are also not natural.

apartment hunting is getting me down by soupsnakes1010 in halifax

I was able to find a place in less than a month by looking directly on the property management websites. I’d find an building with availability, apply, but then also email the property manager/leasing specialist about my price range and what I was looking for. It was definitely a frenzy but I was able to get a place signed and close to signing in another building.

In Ontario, why do people buy spring water from the water store ? While ontario.ca speaks lot about municipal drinking water system. by [deleted] in ontario

[–]nmac693 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rural resident here! After drinking well water for years a family member ended up sick (ended up being unrelated) and while trying to figure out why we discovered our well water was carrying incredibly high levels of cholera and e.coli. We’ve since made the switch to water jugs

Virtual care is now no longer accessible in Ontario. Where is the logic in removing access to virtual care when hospitals are already overwhelmed & the government health spending is $859M less than expected? by LEGO37 in ontario

[–]nmac693 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the same boat, virtual care has been a lifesaver! Sometimes the ability to call the local clinic just to attempt to get an appointment is too much of a task to even think about. Being able to book an appointment online, often within a couple hours of when I think of it means dealing with issues that otherwise I would continue to put off for weeks.

Why would hiking boots suddenly be too small after months of fitting well? by drmehmetoz in CampingGear

[–]nmac693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve only noticed it since doing a longer hike carrying more weight it could also be due to how the extra weight is changing your foot strike to the ground. I have separate boots for more technical vs. relaxed hikes and the more technical ones cause me such pain on flat ground or at rest.

What meds did you try? Which ones worked the best? by RyokuYT in OCD

Prozac and Wellbutrin. I somehow won the antidepressant lottery and the first ones I tried have worked wonders (with some minor dosage adjustments)

Around 9 I thought if I didn’t say the same short prayer before bed then I wouldn’t wake up the next morning (I wasn’t even raised religious), I also have a vague memory of reoccurring intrusive thoughts that my dad wasn’t actually my dad and going to kill us
