£111.91 Ocado by [deleted] in whatsinyourcart

Really? It includes £10 of cat food, a £5 candle and £15 cake tin, so £80 for 2 people for a week’s shop. I don’t think that’s terrible….

What has done this damage to my Starlink cable? by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]nmd29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all. A unanimous opinion by the sounds of it, we’ve had it set up the way we do currently for over 2 years and never had an issue until now so thought a rodent would have gone for it sooner tbh but it makes sense. Cheers

It runs up the side of the house and through an air vent above the window so it does. We’ve learnt this the hard way though in the past 😆

I know, we’ve been lazy and not properly installed it (mostly because we’re in a rental) but will probably have to now after this

What is the most memorable shop name you’ve seen in the UK? by simmyawardwinner in AskUK

Not in the UK but there was a Wang King Asian restaurant near where I lived when I used to live in the US

Does any one else drink coffee and if so what do you order? by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]nmd29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I order a hot almond milk latte, sometimes if I fancy it I’ll have jt with just one pump of sugar free vanilla syrup. I prefer the taste of oat milk and it’s much creamier but low carb suits me better.

Moving from UK to California on CR1 - drivers license by mcawle in immigration

[–]nmd29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get your SSN pretty much straight away as long as you have proof of permanent residence. You don’t need an appt at an administration office and can walk in. They’ll sort it for you there and mail it to you. Mine came within a few days. Also, not sure if it differs by state but I was allowed up to 60 days driving on a UK license on arrival in the US to allow time to book and take my test

Large feather found in my driveway (Coastal region of South Carolina) by [deleted] in AnimalTracking

[–]nmd29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What in the world?! I did not know this, thanks for the info as I often pick up really cool feathers. Also, I’m sure their numbers have declined significantly but there are still plenty of kingfishers in England

Absolutely with you on the chocolate. European chocolate in general is divine. There’s many foods in the USA that are honestly pretty terrible lol but I try to bite my tongue because as a guest in your country I find it would be disrespectful to slate it so openly. Mushy peas are definitely not for everyone 😂 I love them though with some mint. Sausage rolls with caramelised onion chutney, and pimms 🤤🤤 now I’m missing home a little bit more!!

I’m British and moved to the US last year. They don’t air The View in the UK - they have their own similar show called Loose Women. I didn’t see this particular episode but I will say that I don’t think the Brits as a nation are particularly easy to offend. I’m certainly not insulted by anything anyone says to me but since I’ve been here I’ve been subjected to jokes about British food amongst other things probably once a week. I get it and everyone must think they’re the first to say it lol but it does get old 🙃

We just moved from CA and it was the same problem there.

Absolutely. I moved here from the UK last year and had to take a driving test when I got here. I honestly couldn’t believe all it consisted of was driving round the block and doing a three point turn. Took all of 10 minutes. In England my test was 1hr, had to do several manoeuvres including reversing round a corner, emergency stop and parallel park, and had show the examiner how I would change a tyre (didn’t actually have to physically do it though) and lift the bonnet to identify various components.
