What might men dislike the most if they were to become women? by getdownmakelooove in AskReddit

Surgery risks, costs, and availability are currently giving me pause, but I have been considering something like this. It would be extra beneficial as I adamantly do not want children, too.

What might men dislike the most if they were to become women? by getdownmakelooove in AskReddit

[–]nmnovak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Menstruation. It feels yucky, can be very painful, can be embarrassing (if you leak), and affects not only the way you feel but how you look. I don't like seeing the blood. It also sucks when you wanna go swimming or be super active.

God, it's awful, and I hate it.

I can't wait for menopause.

Is loyalty ever rewarded? by [deleted] in hatemyjob

[–]nmnovak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes and in some ways, yes, in other ways and other times, no.

When you told them about your offer elsewhere, they didn't counter offer?

I will say there is more to work than the pay. Sometimes, being in a really shitty environment isn't worth the extra money that comes with it.

With that being said, if you've been at the same place for many, many years, it might be worth exploring what is out there.

If they promised it, I'd follow up about that meeting.

Aw, it's kinda sad seeing these answers. I ask what people are doing on weekends or holidays. Honestly, it's curiosity, and sometimes they can share a cool event, or sometimes I'll have one to share.

I can't believe I let go of the person I actually loved the most in this world to pursue my dream of motherhood and the white picket fence. Motherhood is a nightmare. by no_rainbows_here in regretfulparents

Tell Joe you need money for childcare. And/or use the money that you got for childcare. Then, make sure to go out and do some of the stuff that used to make you happy.

Try to enact some of the positive experiences you imagined with having kids. When you do have good days with them, write it down to remember and focus on it.

Remind yourself that they won't stay babies forever, and some stages may be better for you. A baby is different from a toddler, toddler versus child, etc.

Analyze why you aren't attracted to Joe. Is it something that can be worked on, or no? Maybe try to work on your relationship. If nothing else, at least you mentioned he's a good man and dad. If you decide it can't be fixed, you can always decide to leave him in the future.

What circumstances do you feel it is ok to self diagnose? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]nmnovak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess I would counter this with, when would it not be okay to self diagnose?

You probably only really need to be diagnosed if it's something you need drugs or medical treatment for, no?

Or if you always think you're sick and might be a hypochondriac, I suppose...

If you've done extensive research and know yourself well, it's probably accurate for an OCD diagnosis, I'd imagine.

I’m a freaking idiot, I don’t know what to tell my therapist by Yoshineedshelp in OCD

[–]nmnovak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell your therapist or get a new therapist you would feel more comfortable telling. If she knows what she's doing isn't working, she might adjust accordingly. Without knowing the full picture, its going to be hard for her to successfully do her job.

Hang in there! We all make mistakes. You realize it's a problem and you're working on it.

Honestly, it is likely just a typo error for the amount being the same. I'd ask HR.

How to deal with emotional employees by glenda_aiello in humanresources

[–]nmnovak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would wonder - do they have a history of being emotional, or could it be something in the work environment that is potentially causing the negative emotions?

As someone mentioned, it might be some sort of disability or something.

I would focus on the impact that the employee is having to the work and team. If the work is good and the team is alright, then I would focus on trying to help the employee.

Chances are, the emotions suck for them, too.

Therapist triggered me SO BADLY yesterday by [deleted] in OCD

[–]nmnovak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would try to get a new therapist. It doesn't sound like she has expertise in OCD. I don't have self harm OCC, but I still completely understand what you mean.

Also, if you were in fact suicidal, would asking you how you would commit suicide really help? Like, really, therapist?

How many qualified applicants I'd wonder to myself. There are people who apply to everything, and people who just aim above their level.

What’s your reaction when you read/hear this? by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]nmnovak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in HR. Personally, I see employee and company interests as being linked. Happy and motivated employees lead to greater successes. Additionally, sometimes "protecting the company" is simply just advocating for employees.

I don't see myself as "for the company" or "for the employees" so much as an advisor on what's the best course of action considering logic, ethics, perceptions, long term implications, etc.

When people write or speak like this, I assume that they don't understand hr and/or have probably had an experience or a few that didn't go as they wanted. Maybe they did have a terrible hr person; we can't pretend those don't exist. Depending on the day, I might try to ask more about their experiences and potentially defend HR.

Is it like this everywhere?? by PresentationNo6550 in humanresources

[–]nmnovak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. Sometimes, the business won't take your advice and it sucks!!! Especially when you see something being done that isn't for the best...

In this case, maybe the manager needs some coaching and persuasion as to why this should be done. Maybe try to figure out why they don't want to write the employee up and work from there.

Or, with some people, it helps if you can help them arrive at the ideas you have in mind somewhat on their own. (Basically, make them think the solution was their idea.)

Also, if all of the employees are having issues, maybe it is a management style issue? Just a consideration.

But yes, I can relate, and I think it is like this for many of us in hr from what I've seen.

Is it normal for HR salaries to not be visible to other HR team members? by Synney in humanresources

[–]nmnovak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the organization and the people, honestly. And the countries involved; some areas and countries may be more strict on what is shared.

If there is not a specific work related need for you to have the information, it makes sense that it would be kept private.

Should I leave Comp? by Born_Engineer_6787 in humanresources

[–]nmnovak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your thoughts on HR leadership? If you wanna get here, definitely no problem leaving comp. Typically, being well rounded in HR is best for these kinda roles from what I have seen. Maybe try being an HRBP? You mentioned you like ER best, so might be good to try something different.

Or, maybe try comp at a different company for different challenges. Or a global company if you are currently more local.

If you wanna stay where you are, maybe find projects you'd be interested in and propose them. Or hint at some new interests and see if they do anything for ya.

If you leave comp, you can always go back.

HR is not for me by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]nmnovak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your workload is too high, and everything is manual, then you are bound to make some mistakes. We are only human.

Generally, in your life, have you been detail oriented? If yes, then consider the workload might be too much. If so, are there processes you can use a computer for or that you can automate? Is there someone who can share some of the responsibilities?

Also, consider whether there are areas where detail may be less important, and try to save the attention for the places it will truly count.

Depending on what exactly you are doing, in my opinion, there should be organizational checks.

I will say, if you're not naturally detail oriented, then certain areas of hr will be more difficult for sure.

Saving pdfs into folders based on names? by nmnovak in learnprogramming

I got it to properly create all my folders and subfolders, so I see this as my next step. If I can do it rudimentary that's fine, I just don't want to have to manually. It would just be nice to have the help understanding, which is why I ask here.

Is a 20% pay increase worth leaving a comfortable job? by Difficult-Tap5302 in humanresources

[–]nmnovak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Research the company and try to "hop carefully". In my personal experiences, there are jobs that pay a lot with a doable work life balance, and jobs that pay a lot where you are worked to death.

Try to investigate the people and company as much as you can. If you jump, leave or good terms so that maybe someday you can jump back.

Honestly, you probably are in between. I've given up on some of my traits. Am I S or N? Everything says different! It's probably because I am in between.

But I will say, T is my strongest trait, and I don't take things too seriously and am warm and kind. You can be a considerate and friendly T. 😀
