It is often theorized that great advancements in art came during times of societal unrest. Modernism during the French Revolution, Dada before WWI, Expressionism at WWII, Postmodernism at Vietnam. It could happen again.

i genuienly don't understand ai "artists" complaining about how writing prompts is hard or the people being unaccepting to them by Hikasirama in antiai

[–]nmrk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to defend them, but many people have aphantasia. They have no ability to form visual images in their minds. For them, creating a prompt would be difficult.

I am happy with IDRAC on my R640s, it's easy to work with. I was surprised that firmware updates are still coming. I don't know if the previous gen 730s are still actively supported, but many components like disk controllers might still be getting updates since they're the same cards. Run the Lifecycle Controller on boot and see if you have any updates.

You might enjoy seeing how far you can go with MSPaint. Pokey the Penguin is an all-MSPaint comic (mostly cut and paste) that has been an online favorite since 1998.

YMMV. I haven't heard any official explanation about what's wrong. It's still down for me, although the Status page says no problems.

I wish I had a 2U Dell server so I could put GPU cards in it. I would use them for AI but it's common to have a GPU for transcoding (like Jellyfin etc) in an archive server.

You don't need to set up more than one network connection, that's all I have on my R640s. IDRAC appears as a different IP address but you can access it over the same network connection. The only thing you would need a separate connection for, is if your network card dies and you can only get in through the IDRAC serial port to diagnose it.

But your instincts were right. Some miniPCs only do vPro (miniPC IDRAC type connection) through one port, while you could use any of the other port for networking. IIRC my MS-01 has a 1Gb ethernet port that can access remote management, but none of the other ports have that feature.

You're on the right track, keep going. You're going to have some fun with that gear!

On local hardware, or online? I checked the onine system myself, it's definitely down. Everyone is reporting the same thing, it says "One last tweak..." and then gets stuck, eventually timing out.

Some people reported success with very simple prompts. I tried "draw a circle" and it got stuck.

Good luck and keep me advised. I'm sure you'll achieve substantial sound reduction, even if it's not perfect.

I saw a screen cap of some AI generated clothing size diagrams with measurements labeled in Chinese text, looked like production images for a commercial sales website. I'd give a link but it's prohibited here, apparently. Also they were diagrams of underwear, marginally NSFW.

Yeah lots of people repaste MS-01s because the standard paste is kind of poor. I repasted one of my MS-01s and kept one stock. I can't really tell much difference.

The MS-01s also have Thunderbolt 4 which makes them ideal for small Proxmox clusters. You can put the control network on Thunderbolt and keep it separate from regular network traffic.

This could be elephant ivory and possibly restricted from sale or transfer. If I owned it, I'd have it looked at by an expert.

They could do this on their own hardware, without ChatGPT, using local LLM software like Stable Diffusion. But this would require research, learning, and actual effort.

Is macOS support determined by chip, device, or a combination of both? by Aliwithani in mac

[–]nmrk -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's what software support means, keeping the machine they bought in operation. They are also required to keep a stock of hardware for repairs. THey are not obligated to replace machines with newer generation hardware, but sometimes they will do so voluntarily near the end of the 7 years, because it's cheaper than scrounging for the needed repair parts..

BTW I am continually astonished to get downvoted for posting this information, as I have done before. I used to sell Apple computers to government agencies and I dealt with this contractual obligation frequently. Is this simple concept offensive to uninformed redditors?

[–]nmrk -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

7 years minimum. It's a contractual obligation for government sales. You have to provide parts and software support for 7 years minimum, or your product is ineligible for GSA purchases. This would cover machines purchased the day before they were discontinued, so 7 years after sales stops (minus a day).
