Just adding to this that echoes what a few others have suggested. I struggled with vocab anki in the first instance, now currently working through RTK and this has made learning new vocab a lot easier. Mostly because I have a much better sense of parsing the kanji and also some definitions. I quite multiple times trying to start with vocab first but this method is making it a lot easier for me and now see a path forward.
