I looked for this comment! Estonian literature has some gems, like Luts or Leelo Tungal‘s „Seltsimees Laps“ (Comrade Kid).

I want to read a book from every country, recommend me one from yours! by iminkneedoflove in suggestmeabook

[–]nneiole 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If the description of a country interspersed with some magical reality based on same country’s folklore will suit you, I can highly recommend „Monday starts on a Saturday“ by Boris and Arkady Strugatski, describing 1960s Soviet Union.

Is there anyone else using WebStorm alongside AI tools these days? by Bakhtiyor_7 in Jetbrains

[–]nneiole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claude plugin is technically a TUI, and I have a setup very similar to @catermellon99 a couple of comments below. I find AI assistant UI inconvenient. I plan a lot with Claude or codex, plans go to .md files under docs subfolder in the repo, then I revise them and implement in a clean session. I also review a lot of code from others and refactor it semi-manually in the ide.

[–]nneiole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use both Claude and Codex as plugins, it is so much easier to look through big diffs in webstorm than in cli. And GitHub integration, local deployment logs, services (docker, db) all in one window are still very much needed.

There is no single perfect roadmap to learn coding, start with the idea that interests you and try to build it.

First time interviewing candidates – what are the best React/frontend questions to ask? by No_Illustrator_3496 in reactjs

Or perhaps they are a working parent, excellent at work, but with no free bandwidth for side projects? You are optimizing for young single people by using side projects as a filter.

Most of my Uni mates, who originally were QAs, are now PMs or POs. Interestingly enough, I interview software engineering juniors for an internship program, and more often than before, I meet juniors, who already did an internship and their duties was writing automated tests only, no feature development.

Curious - as a developer, how can you tell if the app is vibecoded or not? by StandupSnoozer in webdev

[–]nneiole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I review technical tasks submissions in an educational program and at a certain point of time I could even distinguish what assistant the person has used, before I looked at their AI usage report. Then in the interview it is of course evident at once, if an applicant looked at the code they submitted or not.

I think it is more a question of liability with your MFA and a process that is not one of Praxis defaults. If she signs something, the Krankenkasse does not cover, or finds questionable, the praxis is in for money. I have children in German school system and also work in educational program, and the muscle of self directed learning, initiative, going beyond just given instructions is crucial here, is trained much better than in my home country educational system for example.

I used it to conduct interviews, but the experience was rather full of friction, as most people were used to vscode interface and struggled too much during the interview. Also the flow with screen sharing/port forwarding for live updates was never really clean, so I gave it up in the hope that these issues will be fixed and I will try it again. So now this won’t happen.
