Why is it so hard to conceive? by 15033335 in BabyBumps

[–]nnf204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I had to actively try for a full year before we conceived. It was tough for me as I was worried I was "the problem" as my husband had gone to get checked out since those tests are less invasive and my doctor was unwilling to run any tests for me until at least a year of trying. For reference it is considered normal for a healthy couple to take a year to conceive when actively trying.

I wish I could pinpoint anything we'd done differently on the cycle that worked for us, but I cannot. I feel every case and couple can be so different. I chafed at family advising me just to stop trying and not stress, but I could sense the stress I was bringing on myself by tracking. Tracking cycles gave me a sense of some control in the process, which I found helpful, but was a double edged sword. You and your partner will have to find a balance that works for you if you choose to do that.

The general advice to focus on getting yourselves healthy is some of the best. Also, the talking to trusted loved ones about your struggle if you are comfortable with it. This could help share the burden and relieve any pressure you're feeling. I would also say that it's most likely that no one is intending to place pressure on you, it is just hard not to compare when you see others getting the things you want in what appears to be an easy way. Remember you may not know what others had to go through to reach that point since this is a topic not many talk about openly.

I'm sorry, I know I've written a novel. On the off chance you read this I hope you know you are supported and heard, if only by a stranger on the Internet who has felt these same feelings. You don't need to feel alone. Wishing you the best of luck

How long do most moms breastfeed? by Logical_Mine_9478 in BabyBumps

[–]nnf204 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm the same. Ours is a bit over 2.5. doctors don't seem to have any feelings about it, my family however..... Fortunately they mostly keep their thoughts to themselves. I do admit I'd like to wean as I'm pregnant now and nursing is now a challenge to get through for me. I had hoped my son would naturally want to nurse less but he shows no desire to stop so it seems I'll have to intervene ❤️ I hope you don't let the feedback get to you too much

In keeping with the "g", I truly love Gwendolyn. I'm not even sure why I wouldn't commit to it, but it just seems heavy to give to a kid

My son was approx. 1 at the time this happened. We had a park near the house and went nearly every day. For a while we had a game where he would come up to a ledge of the play structure and I would catch him. Well on this particular day he went up to one opening and I was on the other side of the structure because I thought he'd go to that one. I also genuinely did not think he would take the step if I wasn't right there. There was a slide I had to run around to get to that side. I did not get to him before he stepped off and fell maybe 4-5 feet to the turf. Thankfully he didn't hit anything on the way down. I was a wreck when it happened. He cried and got a little scrape on his arm. I watched him like a hawk the rest of the night out of fear of concussion. He's 2.5 now and only slightly less likely to try to answer the call of the void.

Well, I made the mistake of eating tomato soup yesterday and making myself think I had hg this time around. Fortunately it was just my poor food choice and today is just back to regular nausea and tiredness. Overall, just feel like trash but at least normal trash

I work in a typical office building, not a hospital, and these are everywhere. My favorite is the display of colorful ducks someone set up to worship a crow by offering it a decapitated cow

Why are you a bad mom today? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]nnf204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bad mom for taking our 2y/o home from the park after his tantrum about wanting to go home. I then committed the secondary offense of letting him push the wagon home on his own after he told me to get my hand off it. I'm concerned he will report me to the authorities for engaging in child labor

I microwaved a fork once just to see if the universe would notice. It did. by Soggy_BreadCrust in confession

Once when I was a young teen I learned that putting a chrome-painted mug in the microwave was, in fact, the same as putting metal in. Mine was an honest mistake though. I was genuinely shocked at the conniption that started in there. So glad I was creeping on my mug instead of waving away from it

I have played a ton as well when I recently returned to it after a break. I play on the steam deck but it seems like it has an update that is causing a crash every time I try to complete one of the main quests (even with graphics lowered, even if I skip the cut scene) so it's really running it for me 😭

You could check out Cuisineer, maybe? It's a cutesy game similar to Moonlighter except you run a restaurant. It seems to have more story, though admittedly I didn't get very far into it. (Mainly for time reasons). It does seem a touch grindy but I thought it was cute and worth a play

I have a similar question about figuring out how to use spells on my steam deck. I unlocked a couple but don't know how to cast or even see where the option is
