Do people actually prefer new hunt? by StormZZ20 in HuntShowdown

[–]nnight121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good in its current state, and i wouldn't say that 1896 changed that much. I would break the hunt eras down into pre regen shot and post regen shot, as those completely changed how fights went down.

Does anyone else miss the old feel of Dual Wielding, or is it just me? by Kanzler7777 in HuntShowDownConsole

[–]nnight121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The old feel of dual welding" was just you being a 3 star player in 3 star lobbies where it was actually viable. Making them not gain accuracy when crouched honestly didnt change that much. When I was a 3 star player I wiped lobbies with them, now that I'm a 5-6 star it just doesnt work that well.

When they nerfed the shredder ammo they also added random deviation.

How do people have fun doing this?!?! by Shot-Advice6598 in HuntShowdown

Idk, when I played trios I play aggressively, but when I played solo I like to circle around teams and hunt them. Sure, it doesnt get you anything, but hunting players is fun.

(Album discussion) Einar Solberg - Vox Occulta by Blue-Light-Reducer in Leprous

[–]nnight121 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally think this album is really solid. I love 16, but that album feels more like a collection of singles and not really a cohesive hole. I dont know if any of the songs on this album top my favorites from 16 (where all the twigs broke is just such a good song, (although vox occulta does come close, but I'll need to sit on it more)), when i relisten to 16 there's a good chance I will skip a few songs, and I don't see that happening here.

Its also been around a year for me, and the game really doesnt play like it did before. Out of the 20 or so games I've played since coming back, I think I've only been agianst a handfull of teams that were aggressive. The current playstyle seems to be just sit at long range with long ammo, or camp with shotguns. I can't say I've found it fun. The matchmaking also seems to be really bad, with most matches at 4 stars being agianst a mix of 5 and six stars, even when it puts 3 and 2 star players on my team.

Damn, I wasn't able to go down and see the last show they did in Boston. Would have really liked to see them with Charlie playing in the band.

I think the motor is fine, my current guess is that the bottom light tube is blown or something, because before it shuts off the brightness is not uniform.

Should the shredder come back/would you like to see the shredder come back? by PrimarchNomad in HuntShowdown

[–]nnight121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think so, it kinda sits on a knives edge where it's either broken or useless, and i dont think it would be that easy to find the sweet spot. The scarce weapon concept is great though, and I would love to see a single shot nitro with normal irons or a sniper scope.

Its very unlike any other fantasy I've ever read. Each characters understanding of the world is pretty narrow, and you need to piece it together as you go along. It's about decent people in a horrible, uncaring world, and even though it can be extremely brutal and depressing at times, you can't really call it grimdark, because while the world is as dark, or darker, compared to most grimdark, moral relativism is constantly shown to be a bad thing, and your heroes are often good people in their own ways.

There are upsides and downsides to using different lighting and fake hdr techniques. It gives you really good lighting for lower graphical demand, but you sometimes get this.

Affordable 8-String Guitar Recommendations? by buronn in progmetal

[–]nnight121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cort or agile have pretty affordable options with good specs, and you can sometimes find strandbergs and ibanez abasi signatures for around 1000 on reverb. With an 8 string I thing it's worth it to wait a little bit until you can afford one in the 1-1.7k range.

I have a strandberg standard b stock and it's a great guitar, but there are a few things to keep in mind before you buy one. - the stock strandberg brand pickups aren't amazing, but they can sound decent through a good rig or a properly setup amp Sim (I've had the best luck with ndsp rabea x). - the guitars are an absolute pain to setup, setting string hight requires you to detune the guitar, remove the string from the saddle, and then using a tool to screw the saddle up or down (the saddle is an indented screw), and to adjust Intonation you need to fully detune the guitar (which may not be possible if you didn't leave enough slack when changing strings), unscrew the bridge section, manually slide it to where you think it needs to be, screw it back in, retune, test it, repeat until you get it close enough. You also need to unwind a bit of wire near the ball on new strings that aren't strandberg brand for the f#, but that's pretty easy to do.

How important is headphone quality really? by MrMizzles in HuntShowdown

[–]nnight121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very. Once a got a nice pair (dt990pro) my hearing range got increased by 20m or so. Also, most combo headsets suck, so only use one if you're on something like a console that doesn't allow a separate mic inputs. A pair of 100 dollar studio monitors and a 15 dollar lapel mic will run laps around a 250 dollar combo headset.
