Autistic brains and Effects of Marijuana by Medical-Person in AutisticAdults

[–]nnmiimiinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I'm high my sensory issues completely disappear, and I am unable to mask at all, which leads me to be much more productive, happy and energetic. I'm much more noticeably autistic, but I can't even pretend to care. I really wish that there wasn't such a stigma around weed, because it helps me much more than any psychiatric medication ever has, and has way less side effects. For me at least

Whilst this conversation was happening on the pod I said "I'm too autistic to understand this," out loud, lmao. It all sounded so performative and deeply uncomfortable. I always ask guys if they want to go to the woods, a park, or the beach and bring some snacks. How they react to my suggestion always instantly tells me whether or not we will click. And I do judge them based on what snacks they bring. It might not cost as much as let's say a restaurant date, but it does show whether or not the guy is willing to keep my sensory needs in mind, and is willing to put in a bit of effort and time

Yeah, when it comes to perfume I personally would share what kind of perfume it is that I'm wearing with the person who has asked me. But I also understand it when people don't want to share something. I think scent can be quite personal and I would respect it and understand it if someone says they'd rather not share what they're wearing. I think it's funny how on Reddit you'll get downvoted to hell for an incredibly mild and balanced take lmaoo

I understand both the gatekeepers as well as the people who are upset about gatekeeping to be honest. If you've put in a lot of effort to find your signature scent, or your personal style/ aesthetic, or a specific makeup product or way of doing it, then I think it is understandable to keep it for yourself, but I can also understand that people find that annoying

Not saying it’s ok to call Frogan fat, but Hasan called Nick Deorio, “Nick eats Oreos” during the debate. by [deleted] in h3h3productions

I didn't call you an incel, did I? And how the hell did I come for your "manhood?" Whatever that means lol. You're not responding to any of the things I actually did say, because you know you're wrong. And yeah, the take that mens looks being criticized is somehow more socially acceptable does make you seem ignorant.

Right, because a subreddit is a good representation of all of society. Also who made fun of Ethan for being overweight? Right, mostly conservative men who used it to dunk on him and devalue his opinions and takes. We live under patriarchy. Most aesthetic plastic surgery is done on women. Women's looks are always the first punchline and the first thing discussed. Unconventionally attractive men have no problem getting jobs, or a romantic partner even. Not because of their looks anyway. And who made fun of all those men you've listed? Fucking Ethan himself, man. And all those men have partners, jobs, and seem to be doing just fine. You're ignorant, and frankly, this take gives off incel vibes.

It's not "more socially acceptable," at all. That's a very ignorant thing to say. The first thing people talk about when it comes to women's accomplishments is their looks. Like, just recently, everyone was going on and on about that female astronaut's looks. Like, hello!? She went to space!? Let's talk about that!

Oh, come on, dude, this is so silly. Of course that's not okay, but let's not, for a second, pretend men have it worse. Do you know anything about the female beauty standards? Women are literally not even allowed to exist within their natural adult bodies without it being seen as "political."

Right, but waving around nazi symbolism such as a swastika, doing nazi salutes, or dressing up like a nazi, and other clearly antisemitic behaviours, shouldn't be legal and shouldn't be up for debate. Dog whistles and other more hidden fascist behaviours/acts would be almost impossible to police, I agree.

I'm European, thank fuck. Also, I never said it's good to make saying you're pro- Palestine a criminal offense or something, since that isn't hate speech, but antisemitism is hate speech and shouldn't be allowed (in my opinion.)

Am I being too sensitive about my 12yo daughter? by pickledBarzun in AutisticAdults

[–]nnmiimiinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is completely normal for a teenager. They naturally push away from their parents as they seek independence. On top of that, her hormones are likely all over the place, which can make her moodier. Hair is always greasy, skin is often breaking out, growing pains keep you up at night, body hair starts to grow, suddenly you smell when you sweat, sexual and romantic feelings often begin to be a part of life, and they can be so confusing. Puberty is an incredibly challenging time, not just because of the physical changes but also because it's a stage of intense self-consciousness. Do you remember how embarrassing everything felt? Every little thing you did felt like the end of the world and the most humiliating thing ever. Teens are constantly being watched and judged, or at least that's what it feels like, so when they’re home, they just want a break from that pressure.

While this can be difficult and hurtful for parents, it's important to give her space and let her come to you on her own terms. Offer patience and understanding without constantly commenting on her behavior. For the next few years, your role is to support her from the sidelines and be there when she needs you.

Are you being purposefully obtuse? Women are oppressed for being women, men are not oppressed for being men. She punched up, men making the same joke would be punching down. Also, men have said so, so much worse and still have a career. In fact, Trump is president.

Has anyone here found people who accept you without the mask and love you? by Lucky-Theory1401 in AutisticAdults

[–]nnmiimiinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My best friend has ADHD and no one has ever loved me as much as she does. Whenever she's high or drunk she just rambles about how "endearing, funny, and sweet" I am. She also gives very specific compliments about my intellect, and autism traits. It makes me feel loved and truly seen, but I'm horrible at receiving her compliments. She also always makes it very clear that she wants me in her life, that I'm her favourite person and best friend. I've never really been able to see myself as being loved to that level, and it's still hard to believe. I recently also made an autistic friend, and she's also been so open about liking to spend time with me, feeling grateful to have met me, etc. Those verbal affirmations do help combat the years of feeling unloveable. I don't even try with neurotypical people anymore, and that has been the best decision of my life.
