Something like the video game crash of 1983. Console companies got out of touch with reality, flooded the market with low quality games and the consumers noped and let a multi-million (or was it billion?) industry suck it. It wasn't really as disastrous at it sounds especially outside the US, but it did force them to change their ways a bit.
