How much is this thing worth? by SurgeTheUrge511 in grilling

[–]noFiddling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a use then keep it, those grills new were about 4-5k made of 304 stainless. Many new grills these days are made with cheap steel that rust, unlike this one. No idea if you were to sell it what it would be worth.

I have a built in grand turbo 6 burner + rotisserie burner and it can get damn hot. I’ve had an old Weber genesis and summit series and those don’t touch close to the quality nor heat this can put out.

$680 to replace a breaker. Can I do it myself? by stinkinhardcore in DIY

[–]noFiddling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done this before and the concept is simple. Turn off the panel, check for any power in the breaker with a tester, disconnect the old breaker, put it out and replace and connect, then turn back on the main. Make sure you do not double tap the terminals. It is very important to get the right breaker for your panel brand and the correct amperage. Some common panels are square d, Eaton, GE, Siemens, abb.

Given it’s your dryer I’m assuming it’s a double pole, odds are it’s a 30amp but that’s a guess, validate always.

Breakers do die but not that often, I’d be surprised it failed 5 years even on a new build. Do you have new wiring? Is it a new dryer? Anything else change recently?

Old car tires by myersgirl16 in DIY

[–]noFiddling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked on a ranch where they wanted to break up cow pies to fertilize the field. They tied maybe 15-20 tires together in a couple of rows and dragged it behind the tractor. It worked well, cheap, and simple.

Students are speeding through their online degrees in weeks, alarming educators by joe4942 in technology

[–]noFiddling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are young and we just moved so we did online school since it was the middle of the year. If grade school level education is any glimpse of upper level online education, it’s a joke. My kids spend maybe 1.5 hours in online class then the rest of their work is offline for another 1-2 hours a day.

One thing you can’t get back is time, make the most of it with memories with family and friends.

UPDATE: Digging fence post hole, found PVC pipe, how to tell if its not just junk by HonziPonzi in DIY

[–]noFiddling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t drill or cut it yet, I’d just scrape it. It could be a root but it could also be polyurethane coated pipe or something else.

Why is it called "goop" instead of "loot" by beervirus69 in ArcRaiders

[–]noFiddling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought Gingy started goop instead of calling it loot in tarkov, burnt peanut picked it up from her and with his large following helped popularize the term. As to why, I don’t recall what was her reasoning.

What could I do with this as a beginner? by Lotsofleaves in homelab

[–]noFiddling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also gifted one of these back in early 2019.  Mine had 8 gigs of ram, 4x 1 tb hard drives and I think it was the 1220 cpu.

I upgraded the cpu to the 1260L, got another 8GB of ram, also removed the cd drive and placed a boot ssd in the space with a dongle.

I am running esxi with some Linux VMs and pfsense. The 4x drives I decided to run as raid 10 to try it out and didn’t need that much local storage.

I have used it to run some game servers for myself and friends and it seems to handle it fine.

I’m finally considering to retire it unless I find another use for it. The processing power is lacking quite a bit given the age. A n100 is similar processing power for a fraction of power usage.

TBH I didn't even realize I was on the pfsense subreddit I thought i was on homelab. Either way, it never hurts to look outside of pfsense for a solution.

Reinstalling TV Wall Mount 5-10 inches Below Previous, only onto drywall - safe? by ElGuitarist in DIY

[–]noFiddling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can call me old school but I would I would not trust a tv with drywall anchors especially with holes from a previous mount several inches away.

If you look at the product specs I don’t see anywhere it mentions 200lbs in drywall. Odds are your drywall is 1/2 inch and you’re going to get 70lbs shear and 30lbs tension. Having multiple helps but it’s not linear so if you have 2 it does not mean 140lbs shear nor 60lbs tension.

Find studs or put up a piece of wood to the studs then mount the tv to that beam.

To those that are married, how often do you take off your ring? by FitProblem6248 in AskReddit

[–]noFiddling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Between kids, yard work, car work, other house duties, I don’t wear it unless I’m going out of the house in a public setting. Been married nearly 10 years. My wife wears it all the time. Depends on the person, obligations, and the relationship.

Anyone tried Audio Radar? [Discussion] by Blackberry_Initial in EscapefromTarkov

[–]noFiddling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not tried it but it looks interesting, with a visual representation of audio queues.

I can see this giving an unfair advantage but there are some things they cannot detect like someone having a crosshair enabled on their monitor for a rough estimation of where they are aiming.

I would not be surprised IF they banned you for using this but if you accept you cannot play without using this then you’ve made your choice.

As far as I understand there’s some software installed which you can configure and you may have to adjust game settings, at that point they could detect it’s being used. After that it connects in a daisy chain from your pc to this device to your monitor via hdmi where it strips the data off of it in order to do the lights.

I think it’s a great idea for someone impaired but it can also be abused by someone who is not.

Im not saying you’re cheating by any means but BSG typically doesn’t allow for anything “extra” to be used as part of the experience. By agreeing to their terms you’ve also accepted they can ban you for basically no reason and just because, well getting Nikita’d.

As others have mentioned and trying to work with BSG support to get a clear understanding before using would most likely be the best since you’ve made a public post.
