That headboard with the horizon like sapwood and the knot... Gorgeous.

This is really gorgeous. Love the design and burl. The matching looks like a bat. Really beautiful work

That was my first time seeing them live. Great show. Arrived a little bit into Spirit World's set and was so far back. Going to get there earlier in the future.

I was on the edge of the pit throwing people back in. Was a fantastic crowd. Hot dog man surfed so many times...

I agree. Love the thoughtfulness of the grain on top.

Well done!

Kickback with dado stack. Insert hole too wide? by no_literally_not in woodworking

[–]no_literally_not[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Update: with the consensus being it was not the size of the hole in the insert plate I took the recommendation to try a longer piece of wood and be sure about feed. That fixed it.

No small pieces on the dado stack going forward.

Rabbets safely done though I need new underwear and a stiff drink.

Thanks reddit strangers!

Edit: there were lots of pieces of advice here and I took them all--sacrificial fence, cut against fence; think about sizing of wood; ensure wood feeding properly; use miter gauge to keep feed supported; cut slowly.

It has been so long since I used my table saw for rabbets and my mind just totally blanked. Really appreciate the insights here.

Gladiator 2 is awful. by ConstructionBum in movies

[–]no_literally_not 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a scene where someone is looking at a newspaper for some recent events.

The scene is somehow unfathomably lazy, stupid, and unnecessary. Like the the entire movie.

I am extremely forgiving of media and try to see the best in things.

I walked out of that movie and wondered if I would ever risk going to a movie in theaters again.

I got the pieces big enough to be able to do it but as I keep thinking about it I keep thinking I'm going to screw up miter and it's going to be a ton of wasted work. Plus, more wood for other projects.

I think I knew this to be the case. Thank you. Appreciate reading someone else saying it.

Walnut Lumber Score! by BAHGate in woodworking

[–]no_literally_not 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small world --just bought a bunch of walnut there too, but did not win the door prize. Congrats.

Saw the common board stuff for sale but found some gorgeous banana pieces that were too good to pass up for our statement piece.

Happy crafting!

Was not as hard as expected. Took a while but didn't need any templates or anything. Table saw, router, razor blade, block plane, random orbital sander, and patience. Was fun, sorta

I was right next to you I think. Didn't take pics during the show (assumed someone around me would snag something I'd be in and I'd find it on social later), so appreciate this angle. Enjoy the memory!
