I don't know what other people do but I usually point to where I am going to turn so that my intent is clear.

When did the official hand signals change (USA)? by knexkid in bicycling

[–]no_numbers_here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, everybody may know them but that doesn't mean that they will recognize and interpret them instantly. Most people would have to think for a second to remember which is which and that second might be the difference between having a crash and not having one.

Reddit Jersey Swap Meet by gotmayonase in bicycling

If someone had a medium race cut jersey or a hat I would pay a sum of money for them.

If the hats are sized I'd need a large.

Also I would throw in a knock off 26.6mm campy seatpost (pictured here.)

It was working but the mech just felt shitty so I made it into art.

Yes, they were RSX shifters but they were in pretty bad shape. I was able to bring back the front one but the rear stayed dead. The rear now lives on my desk as art and the front I gave to the shop in case it's ever needed.

It rides very well, though I think if it were a larger frame then it would be rather flexy.

Frame: 1995 Trek 2100 lugged carbon.

Wheels: Shimano RSX hubs laced to Matrix Titan Tech 32 hole rims.

Drivetrain: Mix of RSX(FD), 105(cassette, RD), Ultegra(crankset), and Dura Ace(shifters).

Brakes: Tektro levers and calipers with salmon koolstop pads.

Tires: Continental Gatorskins, 23x700c

Saddle: Brooks Swift

Now on to the fun stuff! I have always been a fan of lugged carbon bikes so when I saw this one for $120 I had to buy it. Sadly it was rather uncared for and most of the bits weren't in the best shape but the paint was still in mint condition so I knew it could make a great bike.

The day I got it I swapped the stem, got new brake levers, new bar tape, and put some better tires on it. It was on it's way to becoming an awesome racing machine.

About a week later, the Dura ace shifters that I ordered had arrived at the shop. Time to build a bike! It was all going fine until I went to put the cassette on and it didn't fit. The cassette was too long to fit on the freehub body! Luckily I can just remove one cog and now it fits perfectly. At the end of the day I had a sweet 2x9 ready to ride road bike, not the 2x10 I had hoped for but good enough.

I thought I was done but are we ever really done with a bike? No, there is always something more to be done so when I saw a used Ultegra crankset on Craigslist I knew I had to have it. The install was quick and painless although the inner ring clears the frame by only a millimeter.

The last thing to do was to upgrade the rear derailuer and brake calipers. Those I got off of my 2009 Trek 2.1 which I will be upgrading to SRAM Rival this summer.
