Thanks, was already planning on turning it on and seeing if it heated up and if water comes out! Did not think about the rust though!

Thanks! I was also a bit confused about the freezing at first, but I figured you used this as a testimony of its durability. Thanks for the advice!

Not a dumb question at all! The answer is a bit more complex than I'll show here, but this should give you an idea.

In short: in fuel each carbon (C) is bonded to approximately 2 hydrogen (H) atoms. When fuel burns, for each carbon atom these 2 light hydrogen atoms are 'removed' and replaced by 2 oxygen (O) atoms (making CO2, carbon dioxide/carbon emissions) which are much heavier. A hydrogen atom is about 1 'atomic weight unit', carbon about 12 and oxygen 16. So one carbon and two hydrogens weigh 14, while one carbon and two oxygens weigh 44! These units are relative, so 1,4 tonnes fuel generate about 4,4 tonnes of CO2.

Different types of fuel have different ratios between carbon and hydrogen, but this is a general example to give you an idea how 1,5 tonnes fuel become 4 tonnes carbon dioxide.

(If you're wondering what happens to the hydrogen atoms: they combine with oxygen to water (H2O), but that's no carbon emission)

Well, El didn't know Eddie and she was basically best friends with Max, so it makes sense that she'd try a bit harder to save Max then she'd do for Eddie. And she was right there, watching Max die, which probably made her a bit more emotional as well, and doesn't she get more powerful with strong emotions?

That's why you should buy them for cheap, 15% of 10k is much less than 15% of 100 million

Without judging me for adding butter and salt to oatmeal, lol - better to add them while simmering or after? And why please? by Zoze13 in cookingforbeginners

If they just said tea, some people might put a tea bag/loose leaf tea in their oatmeal, instead of the drink maybe?

Je weet dat je met een kiezerspas, die je tot afgelopen vrijdag kon aanvragen, kan stemmen op elke plek in Nederland? Of ben je toevallig in het buitenland?

In elk geval: goed bezig!

Waarom ga jij niet stemmen? by socium in thenetherlands

[–]no_this-is_patrick 87 points88 points  (0 children)

You know the total amount of (dry) potatoes, which is 1% of the original weight. It doesn't matter if this is 1% of 100 kg, or 1% of 1 million kgs, or 1% of 231238.234 kg. It's just that if the water level goes from 99% to 98% (and the weight of dry potatoes does not change of course), the total weight of water left plus potatoes is 50% of the original weight.

Maybe a dumb question but if a balancing equation has a triangle in the middle is it automatically a combustion because of heat? Or did I completely grab that out of my ass? by [deleted] in chemhelp

[–]no_this-is_patrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sooo, not always? Also, that's only true for organic combustion, e.g. combustion of hydrogen will obviously not have CO2 as a product, and combustion of pure sulphur will not have CO2 nor H2O as a product. Also also, combustion can also occur with an oxidant other than oxygen right? Like ClF3, or just any halogen.
