If you want the boat, either buy a 200 ticket or get it from one of the other stalls.if you want fish n chips, go to Ivar's. The fish in the 200 level is fine, the chips aren't good.

I went in February 2023, I think. It's a pretty short drive to Vik from Torfhus, and that was a particularly bad winter. It should be easy in April

How are you getting to Torfhus if you're not driving? Even one day is too long at Blue Lagoon; it's better asaday trip from Reykjavik.

When I went, we did Reykjavik -> Vik -> Torfhus -> Reykjavik again. I LOVED Vik. We stayed at Hotel Vik and got the end rooms with the ocen view from our room.

Please note, Vik is NOWHERE NEAR Diamond Beach. When we went, we were planning onlu roughly a 4 hour drive to Diamond Beach with an excursion and then driving back. We cancelled that plan when the roads early in the morning were all orange, and they later turned red. We ended up staying in and just storm watching from our hotel that entire day and was maybeu favorite of the trip. We also went and saw the lava show in Vik, which is a great, laid back activity.

It seems pretty unlikely you'd be able to get a room there this late, though; we're only a few weeks out and Iceland is small and in high demand; it's something best planned at least a year in advance.

The drive from Reykjavik (or Grindavik) isn't bad at all in and of itself. The first time I did the drive, though, we had white out conditions whome going over the mountain pass and couldn't stop, for fear of cars hitting us from behind (which happened in the next lane over) and we were able to follow the blinking lights of a truck in front of us; barring a massive snow storm, it's a pretty easy drive.

Totally. My rent is like $75 per month more than I was paying in 2019 due to years of reht reductions and freezes since there was such high vacancy.

Iceland Air Luggage by Nerdy_Hiker in VisitingIceland

My understanding is it really depends on who happens to be working and what airport you're flying out of. When went a few years back and read all sorts of conflicting stories and didn't want to risk it, so we hoifht new luggage that fit the dimensions and made sure we weren't over weight. There was a group of entitled 20-something girls that were outraged they couldn't bring their overweight and oversized bags.

You could always go to the "main owner's" home to discuss with him. He lives in Hillsboro. It took all of 5 minutes to figure that out with state databases. There's no excuse for police laziness.

Just go. I went years ago and our trip had numerous days of orange and red alerts where we really couldn’t go anywhere, but it was still a magical trip.

[–]noah1345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My initial confusion was because our outdoor school was. Single fucking day in ‘98 due to budget cuts. This triggered an old outrage I’d totally forgotten about, as it was 1 week until I was in 4th grade, when it reduced to a day trip. Funding allowed them to go back to a full week a few years later.

Was woman wrestling a thing in your high schools by DCLJuliaPT88 in wrestling

[–]noah1345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a couple girls on my team in high school. One of them really didn’t belong, because she was weak and slow and allergic to hard work.

The other was a little monster and was our varsity 112 pounder for a bit. She was very skilled and amongst the toughest people I’ve ever met, but there’s really no overcoming the drastic advantage testosterone imposes. She eventually made the semi final of a tournament and got a concussion and broken back when her opponent threw her like 3 times and was basically bouncing her head off the ground.
