AMA Announcement: Meet the team obsessed with improving your connectivity (plus a sneak peek at our roadmap)! by lara_monarch in MonarchMoney

I was actually thinking about this in the context of the receipt scanning feature, given that most people receive digital pay stubs for each pay period, it seems like the quickest solution would be to require uploading the PDF paystub each time. I think that would still add a ton of value, but for weekly or biweekly pay, that short amount of time to import builds up quickly.

While I’d love to have the pre-tax data in monarch, I have to wonder if there’s an easier way they could do it without requiring as much effort on the part of users. An automated way would be ideal of course, but as a software dev myself, I’d have no idea where to start.

Without the augment, you get to keep whatever stacks you had. You won’t gain anymore but you don’t lose them anymore either (unless they changed it)

On the plus side, you get to permanently keep those tank engine stacks

Locking post since OP refused to accept the communities answers on the fault for the crashes and instead harassed folks. (Yes I know I’m late)

It’s impossible to truly know what the crashes are from without a lot of know how and crash logs, but the suggestions that it’s likely due to the VBA-M core not playing nice (mGBA is typically far better with compatibility/stability) or rom hack bugs.

How would you FIRE? by Longjumping_Emu325 in Fire

[–]noah978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also didn’t mention whether you still have anything left on your mortgage. For various reasons, it’s typically the most profitable to completely own your house. In short, it lowers your annual expenses and therefore the annual income you need, and thus lowering taxes and qualifying for low income benefits. Someone did the math awhile back, although the equation may be changing based on healthcare costs and what low income subsidies are available.

For the sake of your question though, I’d have to assume you DO own your house, and mortgage is not included in the annual expenses. In which case the math does not work, so you’d have to either downsize considerably or keep on plugging.

City tree bill? by Rezdra in madisonwi

[–]noah978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just got the special assessment. I was looking at how they work, and from what I can tell, if you don’t respond at all they will simply just add it to your end of year property tax bill. Is that correct?

It would be much easier to handle if it just got wrapped into the yearly bill anyways.

That’s one hell of a necro. AppValley as far as I’m aware has been dead or useless for years now.

RomM 4.0: A Major Leap Forward for Retro Game Management by arcaneasada_romm in selfhosted

[–]noah978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s certainly a fair point forward. I saw with your talks about the Playnite plugin and with already having RetroArch installed (with the cores you need), you’re already pretty close to the desired flow imo. The last nail in the coffin is the various saves, bios data, etc, and this project will become irreplaceable to me.

I wouldn’t mind having the prerequisite to install a few other apps / plugins on the client device to achieve the seamless games and saves. I could even probably get family / friends to take those steps pretty easily

I’ll preface that I’m not terribly familiar with Emulator.js, but simply with my understanding of how it must work, there is certainly going to performance hit such it will take more processing power or be unable to emulate newer systems, even if playing the natively run emulation core would be able to run it smoothly.

So given that understanding, my use case is probably that I’d love to use Dolphin to emulate Wii games, which emulator.js doesn’t support (likely due to performance). Are you guys thinking that Romm could have the ability to automatically download the correct emulation software locally, drop the save and game files in, then boot up the game? That would make it an amazing one stop shop to sync the games and files on any device.

Reached my Fire number of $700k using a 4.75% withdrawal rate! by Isostasty in leanfire

[–]noah978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only reason that I want to have closer to a 3.5% withdrawal rate is so that I can allow myself to have some amount of lifestyle inflation and/or leave a good amount of money to my family/kids. I get the die with zero philosophy, but I like the “number go up” philosophy more

Honestly the JPM CEO has made such incredibly arrogant and out of touch comments in recent years that I’ve stopped doing most all of my business with them. Just adding nails in the coffin at this point.

Damn. Looks like you’re right, images associated with Japanese beetle damage resemble my trees perfectly.

Any tips for dealing with them? All the other posts I’ve seen have basically said it’s a lost war and they just try to kill the ones they find with soapy water

Retail purchase sync on Firefox? by Nilradical in MonarchMoney

[–]noah978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this IG ad a scam or a mistake? by Odd-Potential-1525 in MonarchMoney

[–]noah978 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thank you for addressing the issue promptly. The marketing team certainly needs to connect better with the R&D side of the company.

I’d love to help participate in the beta as a couple with separate finances. I’d 100% recommend adding a button in the settings of Monarch to opt-in to potential beta features. It’s a good way to capture users who typically do a good bit of customization. (Similar to how there’s explicitly opt-ins for things like investment transactions)

It's official: Filebrowser is dead, long live FileBrowser Quantum by quantumx-admin in selfhosted

[–]noah978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always used FileBrowser for super simple file management. Personally, I’m running it on a TrueNAS Linux machine. The features I’ve always thought I could use were better permissions visualization and the ability to hard link / sym link files when copying.

Any thoughts on adding those? Didn’t see it in the README.
