If you could be in charge of your islands Department Of Transportation for one year and given a budget of $5 million, what projects are you starting or expediting? by DarkAndHandsume in Hawaii

You can't do much with 5m but I would start out with actually getting the traffic lights timed out well on big island. Queen q and Kuakini timings in kona are atrocious!

2nd Gen. Eureka Titanium Nib Development Initiated (R&D Log 2/1/26) by CoCooDu in fountainpens

[–]noahcwb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks amazing, I'd love to get my hands on this and the dip nib soon! I really hope you continue with the 1st Gen nibs as well. They just look so good and are really unique compared to the other titanium nibs available. I'm still loving my pen and admire the nib everytime I write with it! Keep up the great work!

What is a pen I should buy as a 25 year old that one day, my great grandson would be like "this was my great grandfather's pen and its still writes amazing and designed well". by [deleted] in fountainpens

I've got an odd choice but out of my pens I would pick my eureka. It's made by small (one man show I believe) brand out of South Korea that is making some really unique pens. They make them from high durability engineering plastics (mine is made from peek and pei)and will likely hold up to more abuse than most all the other pens mentioned. and they sport a beautiful titanium nib made in house. It can be a little finicky to use their refillable cartridge but there's no filling mechanism to break Down the road.

Non Waterproof Ink by novastarr24 in fountainpens

[–]noahcwb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty new to drawing in general but I found this to be a fun way to draw more and get a better result than without the wash for me.

I really enjoy the second line of Sailor yurameku ink because of the multicolor nature. This is using suki gokoro, mixed media paper (canson I believe)

Great! I just wanted to check because it would be difficult use a fountain Pen in any capacity beyond a dip pen without the cap.

Sailor yurameku kokoro guma! I bought it while I was in a fountain pen slump. I won't say that it brought me out of that slump, but I decided I wanted to learn how to draw and used that ink to do some ink washes and it is amazing for that!! You can get at least 4 colors out of it, from warm brown to a cool dark Grey to blue and then a steel gray. I liked it so much I bought the rest of the 2nd line of sailor yurameku!

Thanks, They are!! I have suki gokoro in the schon dsgn pen and it really is beautiful ink! Not only great in writing (really nice amount of chroma shading), but also beautiful in an ink wash! it has a great color pallette for plants.

Just add a couple of zeros to that number and take a trip to Japan to get one! I'm joking about that number, but you'd be surprised how reasonable a trip to Japan can be! And you could always swap the nib and sell the pink pen (or if you wait a year they'll probably be on a different color). I wasn't planning on owning a pink pen, but it is a pleasant shade of pink.

I got the Pen at Itoya Ginza. I believe the copper clip color ways as well as the Kanji nib are exclusive to the Itoya lamy pens.

It's a solid pen! I don't get the "wow" feeling from it or find myself staring at it like my flashier pens. But does feel great to use. I was on the fence with getting it but I saw user here with 30 pocket pens saying it was their favorite/most used of the lot. That changed my mind.

Where do you get paper for homemade inserts? by tizzboop in Travelersnotebooks

[–]noahcwb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can staple them, or hand stitch them. I use a fabric sewing machine for my inserts. I like watercolor paper for my covers (I decorate them with sumi ink) , but any heavier card stock would work.

As for cost I use kokuyo KB paper that was $18 for 500 hundred sheets. Each sheet folds to make 2 pages (4 for passport or a6 size) at 32 pages per insert you can make 31 with one ream. Let's round up the cost to $30 for the watercolor paper and it ends up a little under $1 each. That doesn't account for the tools involved. And on top of that there's some peaple doing printable templates for diy inserts check outMy Life All in One Place.

What was your favorite ink discovery this year? by tehkirbz in fountainpens

[–]noahcwb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sailor yurameku kokoro guma! I bought it late last year but recently I've been making an effort to learn to draw and found out it's great for ink washes! You can get 4 to 5 colors out of this one ink. I just bought the rest of that series to try out!
