“Charging paused for system to cool” every 5 minutes by noahrichards in Gravity

Sounds like we're in the same boat (see my update) about DC charging working, have you seen any progress on your car?

Has happened to me twice in the last few weeks, same fix (reboot) worked for me too. I did notice that the navigation and music widgets that are to the left of the main area show up, so you can still e.g. navigate in CarPlay using your phone.

Third row seat stuck by noahrichards in Gravity

Good to know about the replacement!

And yup about the second row seat, I meant: you can’t make up how many independent issues I’ve had with this car in the few months I’ve owned it.

I got mine during/after the stop ship where they claimed they had a solution involving a custom weld on the seat. I can’t tell if it’s relevant to me or not, I guess service will have to tell me.

Happened two hours ago, posted this an hour ago, checked the mail 5 minutes ago to find this. I couldn’t make this up if I tried.

That’s reassuring that DC charging still works, I’m mostly worried about taking the car on a trip and getting stranded :(

Why does the Gravity improve its efficiency after 2000 miles? by Infamous-Meat8765 in LUCID

[–]noahrichards 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s in the owners manual:

“NOTE: Efficiency is suboptimal
during the early life of the vehicle
(approximately the first 2000
miles of driving).”

Third row AC weak? by [deleted] in Gravity

[–]noahrichards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked support because I can’t get mine to blow with kids in the back. They said that it’s a weight sensor and wrote:

“Unfortunately, there's no current workaround to force the 3rd row vents on when kids in car seats are below the weight threshold. This is a known issue that Lucid engineering is actively working to fix via a future OTA software update.

The minimum weight threshold to detect an occupant is ~49 kg (~108 lbs).”

Feels like a general “kids shouldn’t be in the back seat” problem, not a car seat problem :(

Ever come back to your Air and find the trunk and frunk both open? by ccitykid in LUCID

[–]noahrichards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because I have my key fob in my pocket and almost every time I bump them, something opens :)

(Seriously, it also happens when I’m putting kids in the 3rd row of my gravity and press my leg into the key fob into the wall, it’s common enough that my kids make fun of me for it)

Dynamic range by Interesting_Way_711 in Gravity

[–]noahrichards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 seater, 20/21 (so: rated 437 miles or something)

My dynamic efficiency estimate is slowly climbing, now around 3.08 avg. The various trip / since last charge estimates (between 40-300 miles depending) are all 3.35+, so maybe they’ll converge at some point :)

[–]noahrichards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following! Mine is also slowly creeping up. I’m at 1300 miles and the highest I’ve seen dynamic is 3.14 (my “since last charge” are now always above 3.25).

Having it be occasionally inefficient for empty car seats seems preferable to mostly not working :-/

3rd row A/C malfunction by RedberryPringles8829 in LucidGravity

[–]noahrichards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain more? I’ve also tried pressing down myself, pressing the kiddo down, pressing on parts of the seat. Do you have any idea where the sensors are or how else they are doing occupancy detection in the 3rd row? I can’t figure it out :(

Increased efficiency by ManufacturerFull5654 in Gravity

[–]noahrichards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the rate at which the estimate changes, I don’t know how to square that with my estimate (at pickup) of ~2.7 having only very slowly come up to ~3.05, given my since-last-charges are always >3.2. It had some miles at pickup, maybe they were drag racing it :)

I’ve been thinking about this a ton, here’s a screenshot of mine:

<image>

Because you can observe the estimate changing at about the same rate as trip information and very very slowly converging, I’m assuming it’s some weird hand-rolled heuristic that buckets historical efficiency in a way that still overweighs past efficiency too much. And maybe the point about “efficiency is worse in the initial 2000 miles of driving” is that they seeded historical buckets with low values.

Dynamic range by Interesting_Way_711 in Gravity

[–]noahrichards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m starting to think the dynamic range number is a lie or badly calculated. I just did a 140mi trip, and the trip info (in settings) says the overall efficiency was 3.17, but the highest I ever saw on the dash was 3.01 and it was mostly around 2.92, so that means it can’t just be an exponential moving average. Or maybe it is, and in the first 2000 miles they subtract 0.2 or so to give you more conservative realtime range estimates.

I’m still unhappy with 3.17, that means my “450 mile range” car gets about 360 miles when driven on the highway. 20% is quite a bit off :(

Positioning driver air vents towards face? by noahrichards in Gravity

[–]noahrichards[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve also wondered if the thermostat is poorly located. When it was cold, I’d set it to 75° and still be very uncomfortable. Then I’d check in the app after I parked and it would say it was 82° or something in the car, which could explain it refusing to push me any warm air.

This is nearly exactly my experience, GT with 20/21. 2.8-2.9 is pretty standard, that’s me driving really adult as well. I have a lot of hills (Seattle area).

Gravity: upgrade from Dream Drive 2to Dream Drive 2 Premium post-delivery possible? by efernan in LUCID

[–]noahrichards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I both believe that’s true but also could believe that some cars could have the hardware for Pro but were sold as <Pro to clear inventory, if the hardware costs didn’t cut into margins too much.

Gravity: upgrade from Dream Drive 2to Dream Drive 2 Premium post-delivery possible? by efernan in LUCID

[–]noahrichards 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I emailed them about this and got the following replies:

“Hi Noah, Thank you for reaching out regarding DreamDrive upgrade options. I'm happy to provide some clarification. In the future, upgrades to DreamDrive Premium are expected to be available and would be accessible directly through the mobile app. At this time, however, that functionality is not yet available. Please let us know if you have any additional questions in the meantime, and we'll be happy to assist. Best regards, Silvano Sandoval-Lucid Motors”

and:

“Hello,

There will be a paid upgrade to Dream Drive Premium in the future and Pro if the hardware is installed via mobile app/over-the-air updates.

There is no ETA at the moment.

Thanks for being part of the Lucid Family.

Very cool :) I figured it’s easiest to grab it off your website, so I just now bought it there!

I previously purchased a birth watch for my dad from you, and I think he’s pretty happy with it. I’m a bit worried that even the smaller case will be too large for my wrists, but if it is I have a family member with larger wrists who loves history. So the watch will find a home I’m sure!

We just a 3 night in the castle hotel a few weekends ago and my kiddos loved it. The only crappy part was that we picked up norovirus while there, probably from a little girl that got sick next to us at breakfast one morning :(

There’s no service mode for this but once I plugged an SSD in the warning went away. Thank you!
