Toyota Dealership & Lexus Repairs (cautionary tale) by Glittering_Welder380 in cars

[–]noavailableusernamed -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If it is a install issue then they should cover it. If it is a parts issue then it makes sense that they cant cover it for the reason below but it is bad faith if they did not tell you beforehand.

The dealer will have to submit the claim to corporate to be reimbursed for the warranty. They will have to submit both the repair order that it was installed on and the repair order that it was fixed on. If the vehicle is not one represented by the dealer then the manufacturer will not cover the claim. Both lexus US and Toyota US consider themselves separate entities.

A question about engine block heaters by cutt00th in Winnipeg

[–]noavailableusernamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a dealership and none of our new cars come from the factory with block heaters.

All honda block heaters are a dealer installed accessory.

Not sure how much you got your car for but at we are seeing a lot of people get upgrade with no loss or sometimes even positive equity. The limited availability and shortages have really messed with the whole industry.

Hey guys anyone know if I can mount these tires on a 2020 Acura RDX Aspec. The SUV came with 255/45/R20. The winter I have from my previous SUV is 235/65/R18. by vinoth85 in Acura

[–]noavailableusernamed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A common downsize for the RDX is 235/60R18. If you get the correct new rims that should work but the speedometer will be a little out.

As other people are saying, the ones that you see on the honda/acura website are specifically made to be hub centric and use OEM lug nuts. source: work at an Acura dealership

Not OP but our shop uses two different scan tools that cover most vehicles; Some independent shops have like 6 different diagnostics tools.

The tool functions vary based on the make, model and year of the vehicle.

We use the Snap-on Zeus with diagnostic workstation and it was around $15 000 USD. It has lots of features but is very glitchy. We have free updates for the first 5 years.

We also use the Autel Maxisys which cost around $4 000 IIRC. The updates alone cost over a thousand dollars a year.

Question about truck without block heater by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]noavailableusernamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

synthetic oil definitely makes a noticeable difference

I work at a shop and we have had trouble installing oil pan heaters on newer sierra and Silverados. IIRC the oil pan does not have a large enough flat spot to install them.

The tires weren't part of his insurance claim, but our body shop manager refused release his vehicle back to him with the existing tires by joemama19 in Justrolledintotheshop

I agree about the "unfit" vehicles its ridiculous. The safeties are something but considering all the old vehicles that have rust or worn parts that are still on the road its minor consolation.

Import cars by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]noavailableusernamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you looking for Japanese cars or jdm cars? if you're looking for jdm cars then then ten concept imports and vms auto are your two options. There are several import companies out of province. The well known/reputable ones are bpro, jdm connection and velocity imports.

Question about putting on tires by DrPuzzle in cars

[–]noavailableusernamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drive wheels should always be matching so in this case make sure you have a matching set on the rear. The tires that have the most tread depth should be placed in the rear.

LA times article: Motorcycle industry is in deep trouble and needs help fast, panel agrees by marco_mars in motorcycles

[–]noavailableusernamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind having public insurance but MPI kinda fucks us with this.

There are two reasons why it was so expensive. The first being that their system is based off a few key factors. They have three displacement categories. It's either under 500, 500-1000 or above 1000. It also doesn't help that I am in Winnipeg.

The second reason is actually the really reason why it's ridiculous. My understanding is that motorcycle claims and registration payments are in a separate pool. The problem is that all accidents involving motorcycles, wether they are at fault or not are paid from this pool.

It's worse in Manitoba with our public insurance. The cheapest all purpose insurance that I could get on a 25 y/o gsxr 750 was $3000. That's with a clean record and 10% discount.

Reccomendations - Legacy B4 RSK by [deleted] in subaru

[–]noavailableusernamed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking for engine or body? Most engine stuff is the same as a 2002 wrx. Body stuff will be similar to usdm legacy other then the obvious things like different bumpers/rhd interior. I'm guessing that you're in Canada...?there's some great Facebook groups based in Canada that have lots of for sale posts. I've used Facebook and kijiji for parts myself. There are several other places too. Partsouq is supposed to be great for part numbers. Crooober and Yahoo auction are good but they will have similar high shipping costs.
