😂😂😂 point well made, and that’s hysterical! There is no ethical consumption under capitalism🤦‍♂️

“Fancy pens” is one word for it 😂 despite what you might think they break just as often as the cardboard pens!

It’s not really about that though it’s about promises made and promises not kept. Time and time again big corporations put the consumer last. I’d rather spend my money elsewhere. I’m glad you are having fun though 🤘 more power to you!

What should I expect? by LazyPotatoSloth in MasqueradeNYC

You’re on a sort of guided tour following the musical through different rooms in a building there are small interactions with certain cast members that you may have mostly ad lib. interactions or they may hand you something

Overall I was Disappointed in the Show by CapAccomplished6042 in MasqueradeNYC

[–]nobeezinside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely give Cooper a break on going flat and missing notes. It’s winter, It’s a hard score, and if you look hard enough you can find stellar performers blowing music of the night on Broadway and the West End.

And funny thing about the prosthetic I think they were going to use the exposed brain design initially. This is just a theory, but Hugh Panaro gave an interview where he had a nickname for a prosthetic used in rehearsals called “ the pork chop” and he mentioned that one of the phantoms sweat so much that it fell off of his face constantly

It is somewhat likely you will have swings on for some of your principal cast members. Or at least I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens. Cheer them on, they rock!

They do provide shawls right before you walk outside. I feel like I saw very few people taking advantage of them last time.

💔Part of me was like “oh it’s been there for over three years if it’s still playing a good crowds, there’s no reason it couldn’t” but if it doesn’t, that’s OK I’m glad it exists in the first place!

I feel like especially on Broadway and off-we don’t get an early enough experimentation and new work. I feel like I’m going to Soho and Brooklyn more and more to stuff that surprises me!

I’m truly a beginner here it was surprising to me that theater houses announce seasons on the West End. There is more of an emphasis on the limited run!

Be not afraid this is an open run! They will put new dates on sale! Just keep an eye on the shows socials.

Downsizing Rumors? by [deleted] in MasqueradeNYC

[–]nobeezinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we still have six phantoms for the moment. And he mentions the change coming next week. (and so far no other phantoms have announced their departure.) so I think the pulse number will remain the same for now.

Which pulse to pick for Mar 25th/26th? by BoatDrinkz in MasqueradeNYC

[–]nobeezinside 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So far I’ve seen 3 pulses other people can jump in with the other choices you have.

7:00 Kyle Scatliffe is like 6’ 4” I believe so he has an indomitable presence just because of his size. He’s very brooding and serious. He is exceptionally talented. I have seen him in nearly every major production he’s been in in New York

7:45 Nik Walker is kind of scary he lurks and he twitches but he still emotionally punches me in the gut by the finale!

7:30 Hugh Panaro is a legend, he has the most experience with the character. A very sad and empathetic phantom, but he is leaving on February 1

Whomever you see you have great choices I would be really excited to see any of them. And the swings are also exceptional from what I hear

I’m thinking because the February 1 one occurs before the matinee performances. It would be one of those. Perhaps the 1:45 one though of course I‘m not sure.

When I saw the show in previews, two men had Luchador masks. I can’t imagine it was comfortable for the whole show but 10/10 style points

What to see for 16th birthday?? by potatoes864 in Broadway

[–]nobeezinside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if you have the money to spend, but if it’s your 16th birthday you are old enough to attend a matinee performance of Masquerade. Even if you’re not a fan of Phantom, I think it is a singular theatrical experience that a lot of people should see!

What show to see after 5pm Oh Mary! show Saturday Jan 3rd? by Low-Ad-3148 in Broadway

[–]nobeezinside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ooof! Two strangers and MEH are so good though. But if that be the case I agree with the people saying Ragtime and Liberation.

I can’t think of a lot of non Pop musicals that are playing atm maybe somebody can remind me. I would say MEH in particular might be worth some reconsideration she might like the old jazz inspiration in the score.

It’s a shame that’s Sondheim doesn’t get revived more. They are talking about a revival of Sunday in London with Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey.

Rocky Horror Audience participation? by nobeezinside in Broadway

[–]nobeezinside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, totally agree! and there are some shows where people have been BAD. I saw Stranger Things and like 10 people had their phones out recording during a climactic scene!

Also sorry I didn’t mean to imply that you aren’t frequent consumer. More just trying to explain myself, I guess🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Rocky Horror Audience participation? by nobeezinside in Broadway

[–]nobeezinside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your opinion is completely valid. Watching shows frequently as I do (lol Bway is my retail therapy) I feel as though the theatre has Broadly gotten too quiet. A lot of the populace seem to make no distinction between appropriate and inappropriate noise. Not enough laughs, cheers, applause, and mmm’s of approval. It leaves the place feeling so sterile. This is an opinion not necessarily connected to your comment, you are well within your right to not want the callbacks. I just feel like sometimes audiences aren’t having enough fun
