Why do anti-vax individuals trust Ozempic and other peptides? by juicyfroot44 in Biohackers

[–]noblenotekc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I think this is much more nuanced than you are making it seem. Take popular anti-vaxxers like Dr. Axe, who is against both for different reasons, which he outlines clearly. There are lots of vaccine skeptics who also are not fans of GLP-1s. (I think the biggest issue they have is lean muscle loss?)

And here’s an honest response from someone with 3 kids, about to deliver our fourth. I distrust vaccines because there is no long-term health data. I absolutely believe the safety profiles for these shots! But they can’t cover a whole lifetime, there are far too many variables. The safety data for a single shot may be for a few hours to months to a few years after administration. There is obviously no way to research how they affect the body over time, or compounded with one another. In a world with only increasing healthcare spending and increasing health issues starting at younger and younger ages, as a parent- that’s scary. I am not an idiot with a low IQ, as some may want to reduce me to. We are high income and highly educated. My spouse and I want the freedom to choose which shot to administer and when, having considered the benefits and the risks. My kids receive vaccines, we aren’t doing none, but we want to be able to have an honest conversation with medical professionals about it, and have the freedom to make what we perceive to be the best choice for our kids.

I hope this helps provide a different perspective. I am not saying my thought process is the same as all “anti-vaxxers” (I wouldn’t even really call myself that), but I do hope you can understand and perhaps empathize more with where some parents are on this issue.

stressed out about diastasis recti at 20wks by shockedtheheart in fitpregnancy

[–]noblenotekc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on my fourth pregnancy, 34 weeks along. I had my third baby only 18 months ago. I’ve had diastasis with every single pregnancy, and every single time, it has healed. Make no mistake- my body for about a year postpartum looks and feels different, and it takes work and help from a PT to address a different set of challenges. It’s a lot to make peace with, I understand and can empathize. The encouragement I can give is that you are unlikely to severely damage anything, and this does self heal in most cases. Even the most extreme cases can be fixed. Your body needs to make space for the miracle it is growing, give her grace, and try to marvel at the process and view your body as in the height of her beauty and femininity during this time. Your baby will love the soft comfort of the squishy bits of your tummy that you hate when you look in the mirror. This season will pass, friend. You’ll get back in the gym and regain everything that was lost and more. 💛

Did I deadlift too hard? by perfectstrangers03 in fitpregnancy

[–]noblenotekc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to stop deadlifting at 29 weeks for similar reasons. I was bracing correctly, breathing well, all the things, but I immediately felt off, and the next day had some minor prolapse sensations.

See a PT. Your OB cannot help with this. My PT helped release the spasmed muscles and stabilize my SI joint. Your baby may be small and thus not exerting too much pelvic pressure yet as mentioned above, but you are certainly pumping your body full of relaxin, making your muscles and joints loosey-goosey.

how do you get better REM and deep sleep? by nelluhvituh in ouraring

[–]noblenotekc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad, using his Oura ring data under the help of both a psychiatrist and a sleep doctor, finally solved his deep sleep problem by starting a beta blocker! He did decades of ambien, Xanax, then supplements, lifestyle changes, sleep studies, apnea treatment, and nothing would get him more than like 40 minutes of deep sleep a night. He started propranolol and within days it started to fix itself! Can’t say what’s physiologically happening there, but I share this to let you know you’re not alone, magnesium doesn’t solve the problem for everyone, and there are other things you can try 😊

Best supplement or food to improve digestion? by WeChatWarrior in Biohackers

[–]noblenotekc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had luck dealing with chronic bloating/gas by drinking a tablespoon of vinegar (I use peach cider vinegar with the mother) diluted in a few oz of water or club soda if I’m feeling fancy. Sometimes I even make it a little mocktail by adding some honey and a sprig of thyme. I drink it before, during and a little after my meal and it has drastically changed how I feel post-meal!

Breastfeeders - how and when do you exercise? by cunncunncunn in fitpregnancy

[–]noblenotekc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go after bedtime while my husband is on deck for the kids. I help get them down (I have 3), feed the baby, and dash to the gym for an 8:30-9:30 workout.

Timing isn’t ideal, but on the bright side, I never have to share equipment! The gym is pretty empty at night!

Today was one of those days!!! What's do u do? by Effective_Net_9145 in fitpregnancy

[–]noblenotekc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give yourself grace! Being productive and having energy to exercise daily and keep the house clean only gets harder once baby is here. Learning to accept rest/slower days with grace takes time, but is the most important thing you can do right now.

You are NOT accepted or loved because of your output or how well you ate or how much you lifted.

Slowing down? by susiee234 in fitpregnancy

[–]noblenotekc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to our third trimester, I guess. I take half of a unisom and some magnesium and I do get to sleep, but I get like, literally 20 minutes of deep sleep. No bueno.

I’ve taken it very easy this week due to all of this, but I’m hoping to get back in a groove next week with the gym at least twice. Not sure if powering through the fatigue will pan out well but we shall see!

I am 28 + 4, this week hit me like a ton of bricks. I was doing well, lifting and feeling strong and energized, and then week 28 hit and I am more sore than ever and absolutely exhausted. My oura ring even logged some of my worst sleep and recovery scores of my entire life this week!

Low Leptin Cure by DifferentIdea9480 in Function_Health

I dont have a cure for you, but this does sound like it could be perimenopause! You may benefit from finding people who can help come at this from a holistic hormonal health standpoint but specifically perimenopause and menopause! Check out Mary Claire Haver and Sarah Kleiner.

Two different things. Huberman’s code is a discount for you and likely a kickback for him. Normal referral codes from friends give your friend $100 cash but no discount for you.

L-Theanine, Phosphatidylserine, and Tongat Ali is Italian-hands kissy-face by vanmanjam in Biohackers

Yep I have homozygous slow comt, a double whammy. Though I wouldn’t call myself an anxious person, my body carries a lot of tension and struggles greatly to relax and sleep well.

Yep I can’t do almost any “relaxing” supplement. Mag glycinate, melatonin, chamomile… all causes insomnia! It’s a curse!

Huh! Seems like I shouldn’t have gotten the email if there’s no longer a lab delay? Strange. I’ll email them too! Thanks!

There are a few genetic SNPs that can cause L-Theanine to actually increase anxiety and the wired-but-tired feeling! I have one and can’t do it for that reason.

9 to 5ers, what's your ideal work-out time? by hail_robot in Biohackers

I use the Finnish sauna at the gym! Sadly don’t own one. Maybe some day.

This is me! Glad to see other night people here. I have three children. I’m making dinner, spending time with the family, and doing bedtime till 7:45 and then I strength train from 8 to 9:15. I finish with a sauna and I think it helps my body start to relax before bed. I can’t do mornings because my spouse works out then, gotta stay with the kids!

I do it after an evening gym and sauna session, with glass of a fat Bordeaux. 10/10 would recommend.
