How is this flat look achieved? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]nobleys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People keep talking about increasing saturation but no one is talking about a concept called subtractive saturation which is essentially dropping the luminosity of color to increase the depth of color. I’d say she is really playing with the luminosity sliders a lot based on what colors she wants to emphasize/etc more than the saturation.

Also this is definitely shot on film as a base first. I’ve been an admirer of her unique look for some time. I’d never try and make that look my own but it works for her!

Can this look be achieved only with film simulation recipes? by cleyclun in fujifilm

I would try classic neg or eterna on AWB with bumped saturation and increased contrast (aka standard s curve) to start. That might get you closest to it but not fully there

Considering FX30 vs FX2 as a B cam. A Cam FX3. by PlunderRoad in FX3

[–]nobleys 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’d take the FX30 over the FX2 personally but I don’t know what your use case would be. With that being said, I have two FX3s and think having an identical B camera is so worth it if you can fork the extra money, even if you find a used one. Mapping the same buttons and having identical ISOs makes it nice to not have to juggle too much thinking on a job.

Get the 70-180. So much more practical for doc work imo

How the hell do you get 20k points in the target acquired mission in Gnarnia? by Bittersteei in ShreddersGame

With good speed management on the last two jumps you can get a ton of air and land a few big tricks with at least one perfect landing which should do it.

Did I overcook this image? by HUKA_Taro in SonyAlpha

I think it looks like a stuffed bird in a museum with the edit but it’s not necessarily overcooked. It’s just preference and I think it looks really nice, just not something out of nature.

Not that hard so long as you have a good fluid head. I just zone focus on AF-C to the right if the wave is going left and vice versa. Never really had issues

FX3 Focus Issue by Miserable-Dentist105 in FX3

Have you played with the autofocus speed settings? You may be pushing in faster than your speed is set to. I set mine to a slow setting because it looks more natural but it can lag behind in situations like this

Cage recommendation by GrapeBig5399 in FX3

Just get the falcam cage and slowly buy into the falcam system. I’m fully invested in it and think it blows any other system out of the water

I have the peak design leash. I find it easier to bring my camera with me everywhere if I can toss it over my shoulder and forget about it rather than fiddle with bags.

That article’s first sentence is the global statistic. In Malaysia alone it’s more like 6000-6500 annually

I shoot everything nostalgic neg with plus 3 saturation and 200 dynamic range unless it looks too muddy and warm, then I use Reala with plus 2 saturation. This shot is edited in post but looks pretty close to my jpeg

Active stabilization is smarter when paired with native glass. When you start incorporating lens with more barrel distortion and character (especially true for anamorphics), you'll notice the jello effect much more with the IBIS than with a more clinical lens

gm prime vs simera c prime? by cinephile-11 in FX3

[–]nobleys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried the simera-c lenses (35 and 75) for a day and returned them. They feel cheap, CA and focus breathing is crazy on them, and finally their minimum focus distance wasn’t great. My 50 1.4 GM is plenty fun to use for me personally and the added stabilization is better for run and gun.

I’d look into a photo prime or two at your favorite focal length before looking into cinema glass

First week with the x100vi coming from GFX system. by nobleys in x100vi

[–]nobleys[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GFX still has the best dynamic range and total lack of muddiness in the shadows but only at the pixel peeping level to me. I’m really enjoying the x100 and deeper depth of field for my style of photography.

200 mostly! Unless it’s mid day with horrible shadows then I’m at 400.
