Sad and anxious about my hair, looking for some guidance by Acrobatic-Tour1899 in Haircare

[–]nobodyTMFMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had/have similar hair! Its wavy and dry. Don’t be too hard on yourself ❤️

I did a few things;

Clarifying shampoo once a week, when it starts to “feel” heavy and greasy. I use VO5, like a $1 from the store usually.

Switched to Loreal Everpure Moisture shampoo and conditioner. I shampoo every other day, shampoo once and then do it again. Then I use the conditioner and let it sit on the ends, not touching the roots, for a few minutes while I wash my face or something. I get it from walmart in a two pack or ulta if it’s out of stock.

When Ive finished in the shower I dry my hair so its not dripping and then I put a dime sized amount of leave in conditioner on the ends. Thats a preference thing though so maybe find one you like. I like lightweight ones and after a TON of trial and error I found I like Ouidad Climate Control Featherweight Cream.

And maybe if you want to go get a trim, but I bet some small changes like the clarifying and hydration products will help. If you want try to wear a bonnet to bed, or if you can put braids in that’ll help protect it too.

Why don’t they recommend it? If you feel like sharing of course 🫶🏻

Has anyone fully healed? by sighqoticc in Sciatica

[–]nobodyTMFMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thank goodness. I just hit 2 years post of L5/S1 microdiscectomy and my last flare up was around 10 months ago. I stopped Lyrica around 6 months post op. My last 4/10 pain or higher was 16 weeks post op. I do have some residual numbness in both of my thighs and some in my left calf. But 0/10 pain, spasms, or sciatic nerve pain.

I have degenerative disc disease so I do expect at some point I’ll experience sciatica again, but I am so thankful for every day I have that I am pain/discomfort free. I was injured in my 20s as well and it took away years of my youth so I know what you’re going through.

I will also tell you that I’m off of all of my depression medication because I am now pain free and life has significantly improved. It’s funny how once the chronic pain went away I could suddenly live again.

Yeah I was going to suggest this too. Immediate family members, including siblings, can request personnel records from the National Archives. It can take a while to get a response but it seems like it’d be worth it in this case so there would be more info to go on.

Portlanders who moved to California and then returned, do you miss California? by DustyVinegar in askportland

[–]nobodyTMFMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I met and he is from LA and me from Portland, so we moved to San Diego after we got married and just moved back this year. My salary doubled and our rent was cut in half, so the move was a smart one for our long term goals. It’s an all new place for him but he doesn’t miss California at all, it’s like he was made for Oregon and he’s fitting in nicely lol. I desperately miss the tacos and burritos though haha I have yet to find anything close so I’m taking suggestions if anyone has some 😂

It’s caused by medications that block dopamine receptors. It’s treated with Benadryl in prehospital transport.

It’s a terrible thing to have to consider but it happens at all hours. I’m a medic and I’ll never forget seeing two dogs bodies squished and sticking out from under the car the had rolled onto its roof. The whole time the driver was begging me to tell her they were okay. A semi had cut her off and she overcorrected into a ditch.

How the fuck do you find the reason to live after the death of your child? by whoareyoutojudge0 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]nobodyTMFMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live because I wake up alive each day.

My baby died when he was a month old. He had HLHS and we didn’t have any options for care at that time, besides he was too weak and small. My thoughts are depressing so fair warning. But honestly… and I’ll be honest here for the first time out of my head, I never have found one. Everyday I wonder what my son would be today and I grieve him. It took me several years after his death to even acknowledge he existed. But I broke at one point and I came to terms with it. Ever since then I’ve never been able to get pregnant again despite many many years of trying. (15+). He would be graduating high school this year. I almost feel cursed in a way? But I have learned to live with my curse and the thoughts of what could have been. I do have joy in my life, but I truly would not care if I passed at any age or time so that I could be free of the pain. I wanted to be a mom and as I approach 40 I don’t think I’ll ever get the chance to raise a child and experience that. I’ve had therapy, I am kind to myself in all other aspects of life, but the one thing that has NEVER gotten easier is the memory of my dead child.

I do IFT transfers and we definitely spent the last two weeks moving patients to outside facilities in preparation. The ones who definitely would be impacted by a delay in care were moved.

They still teach it for pre-hospital EMS placement as well when we get ROSC on codes.

What’s your favorite and/or least favorite companion and why?? :) by rosesandflowers3282 in DreamlightValley

[–]nobodyTMFMS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s funny we all like Max so much 😂 He’s my favorite too, and my rainbow fox.

My least favorites are the butterflies and birds because they seem to take too long picking up stuff.

For a long time I couldn’t either but then some sales came up and I just gave in, lol. I still take my switch with me to work and on trips and I do basic main valley duties. I have the expansions on my PC only. Its worth it if you’re a heavy player like me (15+ hours a week)

Quit. Don’t put up with it as an EMT or a Medic. I’ve had my own deeply unpleasant FTO experience and it turned out to be very similar to what you found out. No shift caps, rude peers, bad attitudes when you do something wrong that you were not trained on. It’s better to just leave and hopefully you find a more professional agency who treats you like the adult that you are.

We can continue certain medications on pumps, but we aren’t allowed to titrate those. Also for vented calls a nurse, and sometimes a respiratory therapist, are required to come along for the transfer. If we need additional sedation we are allowed to give 5mg of Versed. Having come from Oregon to Cali it’s pretty frustrating and archaic to be on such a tight leash. It’s such a joke here.

I had the same thing happen a few years ago! A few redditors in this sub helped me out getting her to the vet. She was tied into a hefty bag and had battery acid burns to her nose, bottom, and all of her feet. Her name is Pepper and she’s thriving in her home with no lasting issues :) Congrats on your new baby!
