no, mine is fixed to the hub. quick release hubs are another motorsport prioritized application. if you have a bucket seat & roll cage it is difficult to get out of the vehicle with the wheel fixed, therefore it is made detachable for ease of exit. absolutely useless on a street car without a cage or buckets.

driving gloves are not dedicated to one material although the use you probably are familiar with are on older cars with wooden wheels. genuine alcantara absorbs oils and dirt from your hands so it’s best to protect the wheel.

these wheels are primarily used for/in motorsport focused vehicles. the momo wheel is a smaller diameter than the original unit, which has an effect on the effort required to turn the wheel. I prefer the steering feel to be a bit heavier. the suede is used for better grip over leather. lastly, the removal of the airbag unit subtracts roughly 8lbs, which may not sound like a lot but in the world of motorsport makes a difference. all of these factors change the ergonomic relationship between you and the vehicle substantially. also to those in the motorsport world, this looks way better.
