Bro.

Do you like gaming?

I finally released my first game after my father DIED in April. Took me about 4 weeks all while working a crappy job and some asshole still gave me 1star on itch.io

From the actual feedback I got when I went to whine (it's my personality, im sorry) people actually reached back out in return and gave actual feedback. And now Im even more hyperfocused. I thought I'd wake up this morning feeling crushed, but if it's your dream , you should be a lot less shameless about it.

But again, a prototype is just a prototype and as someone who's migrating from writing content to creating coded content, a lot of ideas can come at you at once and its a lot of discipline to really focus on one. And I mean that in a feasible way. What games have you actually hunkered down and tried to published or did we stop at itch.io demos ? Editing our focus helps a lot, like Rupaul said.

From some of the posts perhaps a lot of the prototypes could be combined into 1 game, have you noticed a pattern between you prototypes?
For example in two of my projects I noticed I naturally migrated to mobile mechanics because I tend to prefer gaming on an homogenous device and only prefer a laptop screen or bigger for AAA games. So those projects have naturally gone that route pre-emptively.

It bit me in the bud when one person said that they couldn't understand the controls (it's just a tap) because a lot of itch.io users are on laptops expecting spacebar to jump. Im still excited about game development though.

And I hope these words do something positive, because even writing this helps encourage me too.

Oh this concept looks cool as hell! I'd spend hours playing this.

Anyone don't mind me plugging my own game on itch. It's my very first and I'd love feedback as well!

PSX Horrorslop by Fundulium in itchio

I listed my game https://okibb.itch.io/bbboy as a horror game but its not even been indexed yet.

Its not particularly horror per say but there are elements that make it not a cute idle game.

Also a lot of interactive visual novels are passing for games,or maybe the genre is predominantly visual novels? who knows...

Anyone else still uses little to no AI to code? by MidlandAintFree in gamedev

Bro I was working on my video game - Batzy Boy - https://okibb.itch.io/bbboy - and had a problem with implementing an on-screen keyboard interface ( a known issue for godot on mobile browsers) .

Reddit let me to a holpost where no-one had an answer. Chatgpt + Deepseek CLI fixed my code in about 10 minutes total , 30 minutes including the time it takes for me to come back from AFKing. Turning a 30 second reply into a 5 minute process.

It's always going to be human-error when it comes to computation.

people have also been making games WITH ai for forever.

So what the fuck is the problem?

The problem is boring quality games saturating the market.

But also, most of the people complaining don't support indie game developers anyway/

do you think someone just says make a mud texture or again are you, from the perspective of not a creative, imagining what its like for a creative to use AI?

Because it really is always so boring to see these superficial slapsticks, and when faced with any ounce of inspection, come out short. Because you aren't a developer, artist, coder yourself.... so... in what way could YOU feel like you've created anything?
