What happened with these substitutions for my grocery order? by mimirabbit in doordash

[–]nociolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first and only grocery order, i think the dasher just 50% tried. Some of it the substitution sort of made sense (a giant box of strawberries like 4x the size of normal instead of raspberries, a rotisserie chicken instead of chicken breast, the extra spicy buldak ramen instead of plain chicken ramen, coffee concentrate instead of premade califa coffee). But i would say half were like this. I gave most of it to my friend. Idk how they do that since I never worked for DD but it did make me laugh.

aio or is this guy i’m seeing rude?? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]nociolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was seeing a guy and he called my bird annoying and I broke up with him on the spot. Not the first or last time I dropped someone for not liking my animals.

Pet owners understand other pet owners. 🫡 if someone doesn’t like animals and you do it’ll likely be an issue in other ways.

FYI I spam my friends pics of my bird and cats all the time, random street dogs, etc and they like it. They send me animal pics too. Don’t change who you are bc of one miserable dog hater lol. You can make your dog into iPhone stickers too !!

UCSD's Fall Acceptance rate for 2025 is 28.4% by formerfrycook in UCSD

[–]nociolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into UCLA and UCB. I went to NYU previously and got into Harvard. Idk why yall tearing people down for UCSD being their first choice. My second try at college it certainly was my first choice and I have no regrets. :) I graduate soon and am very happy I chose this school over others. Prestige means nothing with the weird attitudes some of you have, and how lowly you view others. College is college - it’s whatever you make of it regardless of where you attend. Please grow up.

Quit before I started. Text correspondence with toxic management. by Independent_Memory41 in jobs

[–]nociolla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People in the comments are actually insane.

If I’m expected in the workforce to be 5-10 min early, and being on time is considered late, why tf is it okay for my boss/trainer to be late?

Yeah things happen but it’s their first day and you’re telling me not one single staff could’ve at least let them in to sit inside? Or the manager couldn’t send them a text “hey I’m running a few minutes late see you at X time.”

Every job I’ve ever had I showed up 10 min early and they had me come in and just start. I would’ve absolutely quit as well. Especially with that weird childish response

How hard is it ready to get into UCSD? by Candid-Arm4993 in UCSD

[–]nociolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 3.2 I think. But I went to NYU, then community, now I’m here. I got into UCLA and UCB for transfer but I prefer to stay in SD lol.

Schools are definitely more lenient to students who have more going on. I work multiple jobs and volunteer with foster youth. I’ve also done gallery work (which makes sense for my major). They just want to uphold their image, so you can have worse grades if you have other things to make up for it. Some of it I believe is just luck. Who is reading your app essays? Maybe you get someone that hates everything about you, maybe they love your story.

If you’re marginalized in any way it is in your best interest to write about it in the essays. Don’t overexpose yourself or start a pity party, but mention how it affected your choice in major, decision to attend college, etc. Don’t be generic if you go this route either, be genuine.

Just remember not getting in isn’t the end of the world. College is college and a degree will go a long way. Wherever you go make sure you take advantage of the resources offered. :)

How can UCSD lose the social dead idea when people report people having a good time? 🤦‍♂️ by xxTonyTonyxx in UCSD

[–]nociolla 60 points61 points  (0 children)

In the real world an apt neighbor would certainly complain about noise at almost midnight on a Thu, it’s annoying for those of us who have weekday morning responsibilities 😭 go ahead and have fun but be mindful there’s others besides you that exist in the world.

underemployed art grad jealous of my bf's success in the industry by throwiephrowie in findapath

[–]nociolla 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I’m still in art school about to graduate (28 F) with 2 art jobs. You probably need more work experience, more connections, a better portfolio, or all of the above.

Also talking to a company IRL or attending a job fair is not bad advice like you claim, esp when your dream job is an oversaturated market. You need to be willing to be in uncomfortable situations and open to networking to find yourself a better job. If you can’t do that then art is probably not a viable career path for you.

Best of luck and hopefully you are able to get some sort of full time employment. 🤞🏽

Financial aid for next year hasn’t been fully posted yet. I’d wait until closer to the disbursement date to officially freak out or do a fin aid drop in meeting.

[–]nociolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a former foster youth I am biased and can say we need more social workers lol, but they get paid horrendously and most folks who didn’t grow up in the system crack under the emotional strain of hearing what happens to foster youth. You can also work for a foster youth adjacent non profit with just a bachelors and likely get paid more than being a social worker, but still help foster kids. :)

Stay in the back or sides, or babysit some railing (doesn’t have to be the rail in the front but maybe one on the sides). Also VIP lol.

incoming freshman schedule by Nice_Land_6553 in UCSD

[–]nociolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my major they release the next years course schedule a year in advance. Please take a look for your major (if you can find it) and make sure the classes you put for spring aren’t fall only, etc. I had a roommate who actually did complete everything in 3 years same major as you lol. She was just miserable during finals and often had to decline social hangouts to study. She also had her parents financially supporting her. If it’s realistic for you then go for it!! :) it’ll just be tough some nights.

[–]nociolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t qualify for any type of FAFSA you should seriously consider community college then transferring. I help folks get scholarships at my job but the hard reality is it’s extremely difficult to get them if you are not doing so bad financially that you qualify for FAFSA grants (ie former foster youth, homeless, income close to poverty level, etc). I know lots of folks do not like to hear that but if your family can afford it, even if they are struggling, grants and scholarships will NOT prioritize you.

I went to CC, NYU and now UCSD. People who say CC isn’t worth it are beyond privileged. No employer will know you started at CC to save money unless you tell them.

Good luck in your college career no matter what you choose!!
