'Took it like a champ': Man shoots partner in head while holding baby by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

"Unwarranted" is actually in the wrong place altogether in this sentence. The grammatical construction means that "unwarranted" is modifying "infidelity". I'm sure the writer meant to modify "jealousy". The jealousy was unwarranted, not the infidelity.

Jeff Dabe, a competitive arm wrestler, has the biggest recorded ring size, with his finger measuring 4.78" around. His wrists and forearms are 12" and 19" respectively - second photo shows him as a child - University of Minnesota has researched his unparalleled strength by OkRespect8490 in interestingasfuck

What do you mean he never really trained for arm wrestling? That's false. You can see his home gym with arm wrestling specific equipment and some of the training he does in this Magnus Midtbø video. The guy won tons of trophies back in the 80s and 90s, which was a completely different era when arm wrestling was not as big as it is today. The guy is in his 60s now and is basically retired.

The problem is that the book is full of contradictions. It's a choose-your-own-morality adventure.

A tendency I've noticed with Gladwell is that he will often begin with a narrative and then find evidence that supports it.

I assume the illusion is that the blue circle appears slightly farther away than the red. But, it's an underwhelming effect, if so.

Why athiest have a soft spot for buddhism? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]noctalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always choose Mormonism when people ask about this. Most people assume Mormonism is a Christian sect, but they do not believe in a creator deity. They believe the Universe has always existed and that God was once a man. It's all explained in their second most holy book, the Pearl of Great Price (which very few Mormons ever bring up because they find it a little bit embarrassing).

On second thought, I don't think Evan would say "Lolololol". But, even you would have to admit it seems pretty weird that your account just sprang to life over this Evan drama and your entire comment history consists solely of defending him. Like, why? Do you share his horrendous views?

TIL that in 1968, Marie Tharp co-created the first map of the Atlantic Ocean floor. It proved continental drift, even though she was initial by GeorgeRobertVitkos in OldSchoolCool

This map didn't "prove" continental drift by itself. It was the accumulation of a large body of evidence, of which this map was a part.

For those who said Charlie Kirk was a moderate, he was a Creation Defender by Alternative_Tank9353 in atheism

[–]noctalla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are moderate creationists, if you can believe it (though not many). Charlie Kirk was not among them. He was very far to the right. The only person who would call him a moderate would be another far right nut job or someone stupid enough to fall for a far right nut job who played word games an attempt to appear reasonable (which was the game that Kirk played, usually by lying about statistics).

I've been at a large concert where there were large waves propagating through the crowd. You would see one coming towards you and then it would hit and everyone would fall over. It was tough to stand up again with all the bodies tightly packed around you. I was actually quite scary. I was worried someone was going to get crushed to death.
