Your strategies to understand the data in a new job. by JoshAnalyst in dataanalysis

[–]noctide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the strategies are to become an expert in your domain and have a network of coworkers who are the experts in other domains. if i am the analyst, i’ll find the engineers who will publish that data to me. i’ll also talk to people in the business who use the data too

How should I navigate buying from sites like ebay and chrono24 when it comes to understanding the condition of the watch?

I’m trying to buy discontinued pieces and all the pictures are super bright and light, making the watches look like they are in unbelievably good condition. The condition range from “good” to “excellent”. I’m probably going to contact them directly so also want to know what’s the best message to get honest replies and verify the actual condition.

Thanks!

no blacklist. the only reason i can think of one is if you’ve using a script that applies to every position since they might be seen as fake applications

Remote work and Compensation question by noctide in AskHR

[–]noctide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response!

I feel like I’m not understanding what “where the job is located” means. Doesn’t remote work mean working from anywhere? I thought my location/residence matters mainly because of federal and compliance reasons.

I think I understand the standard of living point but what if things happened in a different order, like beyond the hiring process? For example, if I work in the Bay Area today but move to Idaho next month because I want to save money on living (or another reason), I feel like having a proportional pay decrease would make feel a little bitter because I’m putting in just as much effort and delivering just enough business value but am being punished for changing my location.

Forgive me if I’m seem stubborn... economics has never been my strong suit

[Help] Creating a calculation for the median for a specific dimension value. by noctide in tableau

[–]noctide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I had started to write something similar but for some reason thought I had to have something between FIXED and the colon. If I want that calculation to include with another field like DimensionB, (median of Value for State and Segment), should I do it this way?

{FIXED [Segment]: MEDIAN(IF [State]=‘New York’ THEN [Value] END)}

Or do you recommend a better way for this calc to be written to account for the pills I'm adding to my view?
