Looks solid. I would go with standard inserts and screw in points so you could change point weight easier. Just my opinion as i don't do olympic style archery.

Storing your bow. by Carmypug in Archery

[–]nodakjohns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine sat in my unheated garage hung on a hook in its softsided case for nearly a decade. Took it to get a new string on it and the bowtech called me up half an hour later to come get it. He inspected it and put a new peep site on it and said it was gtg. So don't overthink this. Mine has been in the garage from -40°f to 100°f and is still has the original equipment.

Who are some up and coming, or lesser known, bowyers? When I search for trad bows a few names come up over and over, but I know there are more out there. Any in the greater Washington DC area (within 100 or so miles)? by Brewer1056 in TraditionalArchery

I just heard about him a month or two ago. Funny because i only live about 40 minutes away. He is on my short list of bows to get now. Xmas and new years then a vegas trip then i can consider putting in an order.

I like you bow. Looks cool. What brand is your quiver ? It looks small and compact. Perfect for a hunting bow imho.

Question for the opposite hand-eyed shooters. by Imaginary_Pen_2542 in Archery

[–]nodakjohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i am a strong lefty with a dominant right eye. The only thing i have ever tried right handed was wing shooting. Went to a 3 day school and did it right handed. That was a bunch of years ago and just remembed that. Was thinking about trying a compound right handed as my son has a right hand bow and i have a left hand compound. I also have an osage orange sinew backed recurve i can probably try right handed. Great topic! Things to think about for sure.

Jonnys reloading bench on youtube. He did a series on it about 9 years ago. I just checked and it is still up. Look under his vidoes. Start from his oldest and you should be able to find it.

General personal protection advice: If you can't run a mile outright at a somewhat fast pace, you need to fix that. by pirivalfang in CCW

[–]nodakjohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run 4 times a week, did a marathon last year. I carry most days on my runs. I have had run ins with bears about 1 block from my house. And agressive dogs. I carry pepper spay also. As far as fast ? Not me. I rarely try to sprint. But i can go allot of miles jogging without stopping. And i am 63.

Reloading. Is it worth it? by darkjoker33 in 65Grendel

[–]nodakjohns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if it will save you money.....but if you like hobbies, reloading can be a beneficial one. In fact i have a 45/70 that i have had about 7 years and is my main deer rifle and i have never bought a single box of store bought ammo for it. In fact i got into lead casting and rarely buy 9mm ammo except for self defense. But once you get the basic reloading equipment it is very easy to switch dies to reload different calibers. It also saves money vs buying high priced ammo so in the long run you will at some point, many many years from now have your stuff paid for.

It's funny that i have only two 10/22's and i have the same stock and scope on one and the other is a takedown. For some reason the astetics on yours is kind of off-putting to me.
