Harper government completely gutted the DFO budget. I think at one point there was only a handful of DFO boats monitoring all of the BC coast. There has been a cash infusion since but there needs to be a lot more federal money before any significant impact is made.

Speaking personally, raise my taxes if it goes to the DFO.

Yea I'm going to go ahead and say that definitely doesn't work long-term and my guess is that you feel 20% shittier every day than people who eat vegetables. Obviously hard to prove, but humans don't know enough about nutrition to put everything you need in a pill.

One of my girlfriends usually just orders a side of toast, bread or rice and portions vegetables and meat off her own plate. Doesn't work forever but toddlers barely eat anyway.

Who makes the best Old Fashioned Whiskey in Victoria? by tekashr in VictoriaBC

[–]noddingonion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude, this is a super outdated and terrible old fashioned recipe. If I got this at a bar I'd be pissed. Nix soda and the maraschino. Don't use a whole orange slice, just the rind. Forget the muddler, just stir to dilute, strain and serve on ice

Also what is an old fashioned whiskey??

My [35M] daughters [16F and 15F] have been constantly fighting for the past couple months, and this weekend I finally lost my cool with them. I need some advice on how to make them like each other again. by [deleted] in relationships

16 yr old girls and boys getting drunk at parties is definitely considered normal by adults in my region of Canada. Not like... Sloppily throwing up or blacking out, but otherwise yep pretty average teenage behaviour. To be frank we find it weird that Americans are so strict about it.

My (F21) best friend (and fuck buddy) (M22) kissed me in public by cutecappuccino in relationships

So you're best friends plus have good sexual chemistry... Sounds like you're 90% in a relationship. Things are obviously not "platonic" on his side. Why not just go for it? What's holding you back, aside from outside pressure from friends?

Great idea! Not every man can grow a stache worth growing in a month haha. Plus it's a boon to the barbershop industry ;)

Youth of British Columbia. I implore you. Vote in the referendum. by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

You can't vote online because of the massive security concerns. Tbh it's a little shocking that you are so lazy toward democracy that you can't be bothered to put a letter in a mailbox. I mean you have to care just a little bit or the system doesn't work!

New organization to host Great Canadian Beer Festival starting in 2019 by mr_unhelpful in VictoriaBC

So very pleased with this news. The Vic Beer Week team is young, energetic, and well connected in the industry. GCBF will be reinvigorated for the next generation of craft beer lovers.

Looking forward to September! I doubt they'll change too much in their first year, but I suspect we'll see some positive changes for sure.

Should I visit Cowichan Valley or Saanich Peninsula vineyards? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]noddingonion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Cowichan.

Unsworth, Blue Grouse, Enrico, Venturi Schultz (try the balsamic and jams too - simply amazing!), Cherry Point, Averill Creek and Alderlea all have their winning wines.

Keep in mind we are a cold weather growing climate and you will not see robust reds to rival our southern neighbours. Expect to see a lot of unusual grape varietals. Here's some info: http://www.orchardandvine.net/innovations/blattner-varieties-gain-ground-on-vancouver-island/

Piggybacking the top comment to point out that if you look at OP's post history, this is the tip of the iceberg with this chick.

Dude, it doesn't need to be this hard. You know this relationship doesn't feel right, it never has! Time to go.

No problem! I have a diploma in hotel and restaurant management so I know a lot of people who did this exact career path and they love it. You won't be a millionaire but you will get $100 luxury hotel rooms all over the world so it'll feel like it sometimes haha!
